Staff have recently been informed that they need to post ‘reviews’ on here to affect the ratings for the Beccles shop. Totally disingenuous and unprofessional to encourage fraudulent reviews. Management should be ashamed/sacked. This outlet has gone unbelievably downhill in the last 6 months: In reply to your response below - perhaps Head Office should be monitoring the WhatsApp Group Chat for this store - you might be surprised. I have screenshots.

Clever place - go for fish and chips and leave it there. ordered 2 cod and chips - wasn't cod. but probably few places are. we thought excellent. mushy peas - great size portion of them. the sea food platters we saw - ting crab [legal?] - crayfish tails - Booker or Costco - miniscule lobsters - not ones swimming in the tank. not freshly caught as too small - where huge profit made. specials - unsaleable sole as so small - just avoid and have whitefish and chips. Staff lovely and place nice. trick on wine - 10% alcohol for many to lower duty - at £25 for housewine - works out at about £32 if normal strength. mr owner knows what he is doing - good luck to him but stick to whitefish and chips and this place will make you happy.

Previously they have missed items off the order, gave them the benefit of the doubt as mistakes are made by all but since then an order was over an hour late... shocking! Improvements are majorly needed. Will not buy again of them- no Chinese is worth being messed around that much!!!

We have visited on several occasions and is becoming our go-to for dinner whenever we visit Southwold. Family of five. Chose fish snd chips, curry madras (chicken and prawn) and two Bells burgers. Chicken madras was bright and fresh with a kick. Our boys loved burgers and fish. Never disappoints and service was friendly with good beer. Cannot go wrong.

Absolutely superb meal at the Village Maid. We were a party of 3 including one of us who is coeliac. Could not fault the food or service it was exceptional. The parsnip and apple soup was delicious as was the scotch egg starter and the mains (festive turkey Christmas dinner, chicken in a bucket and burger) were absolutely delicious. We took our dog and she was given her own little bowl of water and a couple of treats on a saucer by the table. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and looked very festive. This is the second time we have visited (first time was in the summer) and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a great meal and fantastic service. Really felt like the start of Christmas.

We ate at the Foxburrow on New Year's Day, whilst staying at the Premier Inn on the same site. It was very quiet, but we were given a warm welcome from the staff and we were well looked after throughout. There were notices up about limited stock due to the time of year, and I imagine because the Festive Menu has just finished the day before. However, everything we wanted was available, so that was a good start! I can't remember the names of the two staff who served us, but they were both really helpful and friendly, especially the lady looking after diners throughout the evening. She was really welcoming and helpful and went out of her way to ensure we had a good night. The food was excellent. The selection for Starters was a little limited in that it was almost all deep-fried. I'd spotted a prawn cocktail on the menu in our Premier Inn hotel room, but as we had the reduced menu due to it having the Festive choices still displayed, the prawn cocktail had gone. However, between us we had Halloumi, chicken wings and calamari and all were really good. Then for mains, we all had the Steak Sampler - three different cuts of steak, with the usual trimmings, with peppercorn sauce. All three steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked (we opted for rare and they were nice and pink). The drinks selection was good. We had beer, wine and gin between us, then a bottle of wine to take back to our hotel rooms. We had the Premier Inn breakfast the next morning in the same place, all cooked fresh to order, and all very good. Again, the welcome was friendly and helpful. We would definitely return if staying in the area again.
