very pleasant dining room [ Swann down the road is now like a staff canteen]. elegant starters bordering on technically excellent. souffle was amazing - degree of skill to make it worth testing. very friendly staff and no nonsense 10% service charge. go when not busy.

Fantastic building very clean and really nice atmosphere with brilliant staff and a great menu. Food was fantastic and plenty of it.

We were recommend Mark’s as the place where locals go while tourists go elsewhere within Southwold. Two cod and chips - decent portion sizes and the fish was good. Chips were really nice, just not as hot as we’d have liked which is the reason it gets 4 rather than a 5. We sat in to eat which was nice to have that option unlike a lot of places that are takeaway only.

Worst greggs. Cold food, not the best service

Had an evening with friends celebrating, the staff we amazing, nothing was too much trouble, they were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing, a taste sensation, the lemon tart was delightful, my only critique would be portion size, especially for the larger eaters, maybe sides could be added to the menu, I’m sure if we had asked they would have accommodated us but the meals can and we just tucked in, we will definitely be going back.

Booked table for Saturday night. We were the only people in restaurant/conservatory. One had steak pie which was meat in gravy in a dish with a loose pastry top which was soggy. Other meals were ok.

Typical seaside kebab shop, pizza & burgers available too. Everythings "Halal" though which is somewhat off-putting for us Christian english types. Staff were friendly enough, extensive menu of everything you could want as you stagger off home in the early hours, a veriety of piss-heads lingering about outside shoving whatever they had down their throats, probably forgotten by the time they wake-up on sunday..

Checked breakfast menu, no gluten free options shown. Tried to ring to check menu but got recorded message. Vegan, vegetarian catered for but not GF.

Three night stay at this hotel. We had a large room on the front but were not bothered by the traffic noise. The room was very comfortable and clean. The decor was outdated but they are apparently in a refurbishment programme. Breakfast was super, plenty on offer and hot food excellent. The young girls that run the front of house were very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Good value for money.

Travelled from Norwich for a spot of lunch and a mooch around the greenery. Although they stock some beautiful plants and gifts, the cafe was disappointing. With only cake and coffee available, no lunch, made more stressful as we had a very hungry toddler. One lady serving behind the counter who appeared confused with what she was doing at times. No option for a children’s hot chocolate. Even though this could have easily been catered to. Other staff members about but not offering help. Large que too but this didn’t seem to bother the staff and create urgency. Be nice to see a simple lunch menu in future.

Had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch, just prior to Christmas 2024. The roast beef was finished off by being chargrilled, and served with sautéed homegrown vegetables. A most commendable culinary combination!

We visited here for a Sunday roast, great value for Money, £14.95 which includes an alcoholic or soft drink. Very friendly & helpful staff, along with a nice selection of real ales.

We were spending the day in Southwold and went to Squires for lunch about 12:15, quaint little place and staff were friendly. We ordered Cottage Pie and Liver and Bacon Casserole, after a wait of about 30 mins dinner arrived but instead of Cottage Pie I got Fish Pie, they took it away to replace with what I had ordered, well this took 20 mins, so by this time my other half had finished his meal and I had to eat alone During my waiting time I was waiting I observed 2 other tables place orders and were told about 15 mins later what they had chosen had 'run out' and were invited to reselect, why does it take that long? At the end of the meal I was told due to the inconvenience they reduced the bill by a small amount. Payment for food is by taking the hand written bill from the waiting staff to attached sweet sweet shop and queuing up with other customers making purchases, in my case I was no 4 in the queue. Curious to find out how much my meal was reduced by I checked the bill, the 2 meals and 2 drinks were itemised and in fact my meal had been reduced by £2 but there was an additional seperate amount of £2.50, I queried this with the 'sweet shop lady' and she checked with one on the waiting staff who agreed it was a mistake. All in all not a vey good experience.

Couldn't belive the most excellent customer service we received from Laura and her colleague. Nothing was to much trouble and they even got my favourite pizza done for the lunchtime buffet. Thank you again for making our trip a very pleasant experience.

The accommodation was clean and warm , loved the powerful shower. Really comprehensive welcome pack .There were activities during the day and evening,a nice pool .The meals were varied and very good quality.a mix of waiter service or help yourself loads to choose from .All the staff we met were very helpful and high staffing levels always some one to ask..
