The best restaurants in County Durham North East

We ordered for delivery and it took two hours to arrive, while we acknowledge the place has no control over the delivery itself it also took about an hour for the food to be ready. When it got here it was stone cold, half of our food was mushy and inedible, and we basically had to re-cook what was edible. If we had been in store it probably would have been lovely, but they do need to work on the delivery set up and what actually works for delivery

Never been to this place before and glad we finally got round to visiting. The food we ordered was delicious and servings generous. The service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

Came here for breakfast with my son, the food was delicious and reasonably priced, very nice coffee and delicious milkshakes, the staff were very helpful and so welcoming, we will be back very soon! 😁

Great meal and service again in Holi & Bhang. Substantial and tasty food. Good choice for all of us from the pre-starters, starters & mains. Have enjoyed every visit here. On a side note a lovely view of Durham when outside. And on a clear night great view of the stars! All round a good night out and will return again.

Visited Santinni restaurant with my family and was pleasantly surprised. The external of the property isn’t the best, but once you enter you can see the care and pride that is taken in the restaurant. The environment was welcoming, the staff were polite, professional and very knowledgable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Then we get to the food, it was outstanding. It was fresh, cooked perfectly and very enjoyable. We will return

Bit pricey but nice surroundings so highly reccomend

What a let down. This place used to be very pleasant, however it would benefit from a clean. Tables are chipped and in poor repair. 2 drinks 1 sandwich 1 scone only average. Chips that came with toastie were poor and ‘coleslaw’ inedible. Scone old and dry. Poor quality butter and jam. Too many corners cut. Sad.

Bloody marvellous. Try the french onion soup and beef bourguignon. Like the warm embrace of your French lover. Thank me later.

Went here for dinner. My husband had the French onion soup (which he had had on a previous occasion) and said it was not as good as the first time he had ordered it. I just had a steak & onion baguette which was pretty average. Service was okay but no-one checked to see if everything was okay with our meals.

Stayed here for the weekend and we were lucky enough to try the chefs special. I had the Filled Yorkshire pudding with the most delicious combination of proper chips, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls, turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce. It was THE best Christmas dinner ever! The other half had the beef ribs which were sooo tender and literally fell off the bone. It is the one time we have never managed pudding! Once again this brilliant gem of a hotel has surpassed itself on food, service and rooms. Here's to the next visit 🥂

Popped in for lunch after visiting Bowes museum. Friendly staff. Quick service. Really nice food. Dog friendly. Would definitely go again 👍

Very tasty and happy with everything. Chap was very friendly and polite.

As always all the food was delicious, the strawberry tarts are off the chart lovely and the chips are ‘proper chips’ and are wonderful.

What a lovely meal we had! Pleasant service. Delicious food. Great surroundings! Nothing not to like. The roast loin of cod and steak with all the trimmings were excellent. Will definitely go back!

I took mum here for breakfast last week as we were staying in the area but when I asked what gluten free options were available the lady said "nothing". We had a coffee and left to find somewhere to eat - luckily the bakery/cafe along the street had a couple of sweet options available.
