A nice small cafe serving excellent coffee/tea and a handsome scone. The tables are arranged in an open square room in a functional way so it couldn't be described as cosy. But it's a pleasant enough place with very friendly staff. A little off the beaten track for Whitley Bay centre, but if you're in the area, it's worth stopping off.

Small cute cafe with cosy vibes - decor is amazing! Hot chocolate and fruit scone was lovely, with standard cafe prices.

We've been here a few times but, since we last went, the owners have made the decision to be mainly takeout with a small amount of seating indoors and outside. We really wanted to dine in or sit outside and, with the outdoor seating being very popular today due to the sunshine, we opted to sit on the very comfortable bar stools at the side. Our yummy lunch was delivered in minutes and it was well presented in a little basket. I opted to get a takeaway coffee to take back to the car and it was delicious (and in a fully compostable cup). I thoroughly recommend the flat white and biscuit syrup which takes like biscoff. Overall, our experience was wonderful and it's clear that the staff really care about their customers and are super helpful. Thanks to all three of you for such as lovely lunch.

Called in on a Tuesday because the nearby microphone doesn't open. Cask ale was undrinkable

Food was cold and did not taste well. Meat tasted rancid and when I questioned staff they completely disregarded it. Staff member Ismail was very disrespectful and started to shout and call us liars. Generally one of the worse experiences I have had would not recommend at all

My friend and I went for a late lunch (They are now open Mondays) the food was gorgeous and super tasty. I had the first item on the menu with sausage that comes from Nicholsons (as advised by the waitress) the added fresh herbs, seeds and chive oil really made it special. The cappuccino was also very good. We each paid £17 for our dish & one cappuccino. I personally think this is standard price now for food of this quality. I liked the laid back vibe but would advise to sit on the seating attached to the wall, the rattan chairs are very uncomfortable & think this is something they need to consider changing. You put your coat on the back and they topple over, they are to low & kill your back! Staff were lovely, I really look forward to returning soon & also trying their new evening menu.

Half of a famous Dickson’s pie, mushy peas, chips and gravy it doesn’t get better than this on a Friday night.

The Monkey is my local and you tend not to write reviews for something so prosaic that you use all the time and frankly take for granted. Having said that I have to give a shout out to the current crop of young staff that make visiting the Monky a real pleasure. Whether in the bar with members of the world famous MCC or in the “posh end” with my wife, the service and banter from Lee’s staff is brilliant.Emmy,Hannah,Adams, Sarah,Patrick, Shanon and many more. Take a bow. Thanks
