Beautiful site with very knowledgeable staff / volunteers on site giving talks. Listened to a talk while waiting to enter the house.

Went for a take away, been looking forward to one for weeks! Ordered king prawn masala. It’s got about 5 tiny prawns in it, nothing else but 5 small prawns and sauce! No veg nothing else. Very sugary and coconuty, horrid You can see the video for yourself. Cost about £13 excluding rice! Terrible.

Really disappointing, came with high hopes as had a beautiful walk on holy island and situated perfectly for a visit on way home. Attended for lunch and a basic sandwich order / kids order took 1hr 30mins to arrive and when it did arrive was inedible and cold, also VERY expensive !!! Was served by a very efficient manageress who was great but other staff were unhelpful and clearly new to the job...such a great shame and won't be returning - would highly recommend Carnabys further south on the A1 or the many pubs of Bamburgh village.

We visited 'the old boathouse' on a rather wet and windy Wednesday night. The staff were extremely welcoming and offered us suggestions on a variety of dishes. We chose the pictured 'fishfood platter', it was very filling with a great variety of fish served for £89. I would recommend you pay this place a visit as it is a good little restaurant.

Absolutely appalling that when there is a severe weather warning this hotel will not allow a cancellation. They have still charged me the full amount regardless of a police warning not to travel. I cannot believe this! And certainly will not book with them again when I go down next week.

Lovely place for a bite to eat for lunch. Met up with family just before Christmas, busy enough to have an atmosphere, but not too busy so we could hear each other. Food and desserts were delicious 😋 Attentive friendly staff, and would recommend 👌

I visited the hotel only for a night due to a meeting I had to attend the following day in the town. The location of the hotel was perfect just opposite the train station and the person at the reception was very friendly. As I arrived just before 9 pm I questioned if the restaurant was still open in order to have some dinner but they informed me that restaurant closed at 19.30?! I thought it is too early and I had never experienced it in any other hotel. Once I joined the room there was a funny smell coming out from the bathroom and the room was super cold even though the heating was slightly on. Especially inside the bathroom I was freezing so I had to take a shower very quickly and jump inside the bed in order to warm up myself which isn’t very relaxing after hours of travelling. Lastly the following day even though my company’s reservation was breakfast included, in the morning I had been given the choice of complimentary breakfast only which was very very limited. Not even to mention that the check out was 10 am and the cleaners were speaking loudly outside of my room since 9 am stressing me out while just 5 minutes before 10 am I heard them saying “come on people 10 am is the checking out time” which I can definitely say it is not the way any hotel should perform. Overall it was a disappointing visit and I would never come back.

Smokey wet log was put into the open log burner/fire, causing the entire place to be filled with smoke. Bar was well stocked with alcohol but lacked in other options (e.g. not many soft drinks or hot chocolate). Young employee behind the bar came across unexperienced and possibly sheepish. They probably serve food but all we saw was an unplugged buffet fridge and empty plastic containers. Very central and close to Kielder Castle though

Just been on a 241 Wednesday offer. They don't have vegetarian menu but was informed they could adjust menu for me. Opted for garlic mushrooms and chips and my partner had steak pie. We waited for over an hour for our food, staff were pleasant enough. When we paid our bill we didn't get the 241 which I was led to believe we would get due to being no vegetarian option. PLEASE BEWARE for future. FOLLOWING REPLY. I AM AWARE WHAT 241 IS BUT NO WHERE ON THE MENU WE WERE GIVEN DID IT SAY 241 BUT IT US ADVERTISED ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT WEDNESDAYS AND 241. YOU DO NOT PROVIDE A VEGETARIAN MENU BUT YOU ADVERTISE AS VEGAN FRIENDLY WHICH YOU ARE NOT. YOUR STAFF STATED YOJ COULD ACCOMMODATE MY STARTER ORDER AND SIDE AS A MAIN BUT THIS WAS NOT REFLECTED IN BILL. THE FACT THAT WE WAITED FOR OVER AN HOUR WAS ALSO AN ISSUE. ACCEPT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND IMPROVE YOUR MANAGEMENT SKILLS. IT SEEMS TO BE A BIT OF A PATTERN WHEN YOU'RE ESTABLISHMENT IS GIVEN A BAD REVIEW YOU INSULT AND DEMISE. SMACKS OF CHILDISH BEHAVIOUR AND SEEMS YOU ARE A KEYBOARD WORRIER. AS STATED ABOVE I DID SPEAK TO YOUR STAFF AND I WAS INFORMED YOU DONT DO VEGETARIAN FOOD. WHERE YOU CLEARLY ADVISE YOU DO. Absolutely beautiful place Authentic high quality food at very reasonable prices & the staff & ambience of the place is just perfect. Very blessed it’s my new local. Dog friendly as well Highly highly recommend

Had Sunday lunch today , only just warm , fatty undercooked meat on the trio , chicken was pink , told the waitress , but wasn’t compensated for it , left nearly all of it , won’t be back

If I could hand out awards , they’d of won the worst Sunday dinner award in Hexham. Called in to the Coach and horses due to everywhere else in Hexham being busy and here was quiet. Should have been a sign to turn back round ! Got served fairly quickly and order chicken goujons to start with and 2 Sunday diners - one turkey and one beef. The starter arrives fairly quickly and to be fair it was tasty. Crispy chicken sided with a nice dipping sauce. Once the starter was taken away our dinner arrived straight away , which was far too quick for a proper dinner to be cooked. Straight away the dinner was slightly warm and the gravey looked like dish water. Requested for extra gravy hoping it would be a little better but sadly that wasn’t the case. However I thought I’d give it a try as looks can be deceiving but it tasted as bad as it looked unfortunately. All veg was just either mush or dry. It tasted like it had been pre cooked , then warmed up and left to the side to serve straight away. Then the serving of beef was huge , 3 great big slices. No wonder you got a lot it must of been the cheapest cut of meat possible! Trying to chew it was like eating a bulls lug. Really disappointing and when mentioned to staff that the beef was poor and they could tell by the plate not much was eaten all that was said is that the chef would be informed. Really disappointing experience at The Coach and Horses, if you are looking for a good meal in Hexham please go to The County over the road where you will get a good meal.
