The best restaurants in Rainford St. Helens North West

First time ever been ,best book ahead for a table as we got lucky. Lovely meals and great place to eat,even got a pudding. Will definitely be returning again.

Absolutely love this place - the food and drink selection is the best and everything always tastes magnificent. The place is beautiful and the staff are amazing. What a fantastic place. Highly recommend.

Tonight (Saturday 1st Feb) 10 of us were in the Eagle and Child Pub Rainford. 3 if us were drinking the cask ale and it was off. It must have been near the end of the barrel. OK, so we may have drank nearly half when we took them back. We didn't expect a whole pint replacement, we asked for a half of something else. We were refused and we told we had to pay the full price for another pint. All 10 of us walked out and went to another pub. They lost our custom. Not a way to run a pub. UPDATE: The owners comments are incorrect, we had not drank more than half of our three pints before we complained.

Went with Relatives for lunch, could not fault anything, the staff are fabulous and it is the little touches that make this place special, yes but the cheapest but quality throughout makes this a wonderful dining experience

We visited Santa's Grotto recently with our young daughter and she loved it. Excellent value for money and a great experience. We had food in their Cherry Orchard Tearoom afterwards, the festive Yorkshire pudding wrap was unreal, highly recommend a visit!

Not very impressed with the Barn today. They have really let it go. It opened at 10am, we got there at 10.30am. It was freezing!!! Warmer outside!!! Ordered 2x toasted tea cake and coffees. It was cold and over cooked, butter frozen. How can you mess such an easy order up??? ☹️ The toilet had a full bin, come on. 😱

Credit where credit is emphatically due! We popped in for breakfast the other morning, only to be met by what can only be described as a phalanx of the friendliest staff you could ever wish to encounter. And, my word, what a breakfast it was! A truly resplendent English spread, in a pub that exuded charm and individuality. None of this soulless, microwave 'ping' malarkey you get with the dreary chain establishments. No, no, this was the real McCoy—proper British hospitality, by Jove! An absolute triumph and a welcome respite from the mundane. Bravo!

First visit since reopening, one of the worst fish and chips we have eaten, fish was dry and fatty and must have got cooked an hour ago, the chips were disgusting must have been warm ups from lunch time

Nice old pub but food came in the wrong order starters after mains? Portion sizes not the best tasty food but who serves 1/2 a chicken fillet. We had heard great reviews about the places but I do not think we will be returning, bit disappointing.

Absolutely outstanding place. The service and staff were fantastic and very friendly The food was really tasty We had one vegetarian friend with us and she was impressed with all the options Will definitely be going again soon

Poor quality and poor service. I ordered from here during the pandemic and it was great. Must’ve changed hands. I would not recommend ordering from here.

This was for years the best Chinese takeaway in the whole St. Helens area in my opinion. In recent years, it has really changed for the worse, the food is so salty and probably full of msg. The only way to describe it are that standards have slipped from being really good to below par, which is a shame for all.
