We celebrated our 50th Wedding anniversary at the dew Pond recently with our 4 grandchildren aged 6 to 11 and their parents and what a great time we had. We booked the private room as it had a little sitting room where the children could spend time between courses and not disturb other diners. This worked a treat as the restaurant was very busy with another party of 10 in the restaurant and most if not all the other tables occupied. The menu offer 6 choices for each course and we did not have to choose in advance which was a bonus. Keith the owner and chef took the trouble though to check with me in advance that the children would be able to eat off the menu as the youngest can be a bit picky. On arrival we were welcomed by Keith's wife and her team and went out to the terrace for pre dinner drinks and just as we were finishing those and our cheese straws, told our table was ready. Between the 10 of us I think we had worked our way through the whole menu by the time we had finished pud. Each dish was eagerly awaited, arrived beautifully presented and tasted delicious, a treat for both eyes and tummies. Service was impeccable with just the right amount of time between courses. The whole team at the Dew Pond made it an evening to remember so thank you Keith and team. You are worthy of a Michelin star but we are quite pleased you do not have one so we can book a table when we want to visit again without booking 3 months ahead to go on what turned out to be a waiting list, only to be disappointed a week beforehand. That was our family's booking at Le Manoir Quatre Saisons some years ago but the tactless way Raymond Blanc treated me on the telephone still rankles all these years later. Keep doing Keith what you do so well and we will keep coming back.

The Dew Pond first and foremost serves outstanding food at very reasonable prices. The staff are attentive and the location is beautiful. All three of our courses were sublime, I encourage everyone to go there if you would like to enjoy some of the best food in Hampshire /West Berkshire.

We went for a family Sunday lunch but unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations, it had gammon on the menu as a roast and it was rashers off bacon not a gammon steak. Also we were only given one set of veg between 10 off us we complained and was told they would get us some more but it never turned so some of us had no veg very dissatisfied. We will not be returning in the future I am afraid.

We were a group of six for Sunday lunch. Two of our party were delayed, the Manager reorganised the bookings to fit this in. The food, service and room were excellent and a thoroughly good time was had by all.

We wanted somewhere for my birthday lunch but being in a Motorhome can make finding parking challenging. We were visiting Highclere and passed this pub and did a quick u-turn. We were able to park at the back of the car park as it had a couple of extra long spaces. We were asked if we had booked a table and advised we hadn't, the serving lady found us a lovely table in the window for 2 plus our dog. We didn't want a big lunch so I chose the scotch egg starter with a side of chips, my hubby had cod cheek scampi with fries and salad. It was lovely, cooked beautifully and tasted homemade. Prices of some dishes were a little hefty but our dishes were well priced. There were dog snacks and water bowls We would definitely recommend, some dishes we saw coming out certainly looked very generous portions so be warned. Congratulations to the lady serving as she was serving behind the bar as well as waitressing, I don't think the pub had anticipated being quite so busy but she managed extraordinarily well until a colleague turned up to assist, well done.

Very very disappointing. We waited well over an hour for our lunch and saw tables who had ordered after us being served first. An offer to take our drinks off the bill was accepted. The calf’s liver was over cooked and so salty it was almost inedible. A badly organised pub serving poor quality food. AVOID.

Our 4th visit, lovely wonderful staff. Real value for money. Why pay £26 for 8 oz sirloin steak in Freefolk, when you can have 16oz rump steak for the same price at The George St. Mary Bourne. Lovely atmosphere, great value for money.
