After an extensive search for a suitable place to celebrate my partner's 70th birthday celebrations I settled on The Black Horse in Amberley. I wasn't disappointed this stunning pub with rooms above has been elegantly restored to beyond it's former glory by Emma and her Husband. We received a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast and drinks were really good. It's situated in the heart of one of West Sussex's most beautiful villages and popular with walkers. We'll definitely be returning.

Planned a Saturday lunch walk with this pub in the middle. Was very excited to go from the good reviews for food but kitchen closed. Two others in the very tired pub with unfriendly staff who as we were sat in the empty forecourt asked us if we were going to use the pub very much to try and move us on. Go to The Fox much friendlier and wonderful menu.

Friendly but chaotic, was about half a dozen school aged children in the kitchen visible from the shop area which seemed strange. Salad was nice and fresh, cheesy chips was chips with a blob of cheese on top, could've mixed grated cheese into the chips tbh. Lamb shish meat was very chewy (possibly frozen then defrosted) and a bit disappointing. Ordered online was straightforward and produced in good quick time. No card payment available cash only. It was a busy saturday night so I'll give another try for benefit of doubt and will revise rating if better experience......

We had made a reservation for a table at 7 o'clock for seven people, and had confirmed this booking the day before. However, upon our arrival, we were informed by the manager that our table had been given away to another party. The manager was unhelpful and simply told us that there was nothing that could be done. As a result, we were left without a place to celebrate New Year's Eve, causing significant inconvenience and disappointment.

Stayed one night with breakfast (no dinner on Sunday evenings). The The Castle Inn was all we hoped for, a traditional country inn in a small but beautiful village. We really liked our 'superior' room which was clean, spacious and well equipped. The floor was a little wonky, which only added to the room's character. The bar was welcoming with a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent, liked that it was quality and not quantity. Shame that coffee was only hotel average. Service all very friendly, especially the cheery breakfast guy. All very clean throughout. We found time to walk around the village, which is delightful. Overall we loved The Castle Inn and will go again and hopefully get to try the evening food which, based on the breakfast, I'm sure will be very good.

The place is beautiful .staff in the restaurant were friendly and so attentive . The bar is cosy and comfortable for a pre meal drink . The food in the Restaurant for Sunday lunch was delicious decor is gorgeous. The grounds and the outdoor seating area are lovely to sit in if weather permits. Definitely returning.

Ordered a takeaway we regularly use them but today service was less than satisfactory it took 1 hour 20 mins for the food to arrive when asked why we only got a busy from the driver maybe you need to tell your customers when your really busy and at least give them some idea of how long we are Located only 10 mins from town and the food wasn’t up to standards either

The food was at best plated supermarket ingredients. For example a slice of tiger bread topped with a slice of packet ham with a few drops of olive oil. The service was attentive however. On the, whole it was overpriced and there are better places in town. We felt the value was poor, but the service and environment was pleasant.
