My Wife, Granddaughter and Myself visited this pub one lunchtime during September on the back of a recommendation. We were so glad we did..the pub itself is a beautiful building with history attached to it. The open fire was lit too which added to the feel and overall experience of the pub. We all had two courses which was delicious. I thoroughly recommend the food and the pub as a whole you won't be disappointed. We will certainly visit again at some point when we next visit the Isle of Wight.

Friendly staff, but scones were microwaved from frozen which we weren't made aware of when we ordered! Didn't measure up to expectations from the sign outside advertising scones with jam and clotted cream. The scone was served to take away with the cream and jam already spread as requested, but of course cream served on a hot scone just goes to liquid which should have been obvious, looked disgusting and we binned it! Very disappointed and wouldn't go back again.

Driving along the road heading into Keswick decide to stop here for a drink. We were greeted with a warm welcome so much so decided we would stay for evening meal. My friend and I were not disappointed. Food was superb and service first class. Couldnt do enough for us. I can certainly recommend this lovely place and hope to go back very soon.

Such a lovely spot, ideally located on the corner of the high street We stopped in for coffee and a cake, plenty of choice of coffee and cake.. fresh homemade cakes Wish we’d stayed for a lunch as the baguettes looked amazing, the door didn’t stop it’s so popular

Average at best. £12.50 for 4 prawns on skewers as a sharing plate. The Moroccan chicken skewers with Cous Cous was below par and although presented relatively well it did not lend itself to the so called exciting dishes as advertised! The menu choices are not good and quite frankly sparse. The choice of desserts was disheartening, although reasonably priced. The drinks are expensive £3.50 for a half of Coke and £10 for a glass of wine is quite honestly too much. The Good friendly service from the front of house staff can’t be faulted. Average food at an above average price. Will definitely NOT be going back.

To be honest, there isn't a great deal of choice for takeaway fish & chips on Ventnor seafront so when I saw the 4.5 star feedback rating for Golden Sands, I trusted that this must be good - how wrong was I? The member of staff was lovely and very chatty, and when she asked me to come back in 15 minutes as 'we are so busy', I didn't think twice. However, I did not think that the 15 minutes would be needed to cook horrible FROZEN fish and OVEN chips. I'm really no snob when it comes to food but when I'm being asked to pay over £13.00 for the pleasure of this rubbish, I had to write this review to help other people. One recommendation - which i will also write a review for is Ocean View Fish & Chips. Admittedly not on the seafront, but absolutely 1000% better and a lot cheaper, if you can find your way up the winding streets of lovely Ventnor!

Visited for Sunday lunch, v friendly meet and greet, limited menu, we ate lamb and beef roast dinners, well presented, v tasty and large portions, served with good wine and Loweswater Gold beer. Another excellent lunch, many thanks, we will return.

OMG what a difference. A very poor Christmas meal, not at all up to the usual standard. 1 small thin slice of turkey, 2 burnt roast potatoes and all not hot. Sent it back and extra turkey added plus potatoes replaced, but still only average. Needs to get back to previous standard.

This place is a real gem. Super location with great western Solent views, very warm welcome, flexibility on eg sandwich filling & very reasonable pricing. What's not to like! Adjacent parking & a very short walk to the Fort Victoria attractions. Several obviously regular locals there when we called. Dogs welcome.
