Very good food , service good , good price

Recently celebrated my mother's 90th birthday there. There were 15 of us for lunch and we were able to order from a very wide range (using both their normal menu as well as their special Christmas one). The food was delicious and came in very generous portions. The service was very prompt and staff took care not to rush the elderly members of our party. Overall the experience was superb. Great food. Friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to help. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend the Rose and Crown wholeheartedly.

Wednesday Thai Night....Amazing....Food was absolutely beautiful, the best Thai meal we've had in a very long time. Glass of fizz on arrival was a nice touch. The music was spot on. Staff were fab. Top notch night felt like it was a Friday!......if only! Thank you so much

Poor service . Even poorer food. Dinner in a paper bag🤣 . What a joke . Smallest steaks I've ever seen and table service so bad ya have to fetch you're own drinks from the the bar because the staff are too busy talking . This place was recommended to me . How low must people's standards of service be ....

Took up the Wednesday offer of £20pp, for 2 courses, which includes a bottle of wine. Sat in the conservatory with our dog. Great value and service.

Disappointing experience in our visit today. Ate at Ego with my partner, my son and his girlfriend. We are local so eat here quite often. My partner ordered Lamb Kleftiko, which is a dish served in a terracotta dish, wrapped in brown paper. It arrived extremely hot, far too hot to eat or do anything with. The food was difficult to eat as it was surrounded by the brown paper. The vegetables were very scarce and we felt it was poor value at £21.95. In hindsight we should have sent the dish back as it wasn't really worth the money. We did complain to two members of staff, one who was pretty indifferent and half heartedly asked if my partner wanted to order something else and again to a gentleman who told us that they have no control over the menu and that it's down to head office who design the menu. We like Ego but will think carefully before visiting again as I value for money isn't what we got today.
