The best restaurants in Cleckheaton Kirklees Yorkshire and The Humber

I have nothing to say but great things about Eastern Spice. They hosted us for my Birthday. The staff were attentive and the food was excellent. Couple this to competitive pricing and BYO drinks and it is a winner all round.

Food good, staff a bit undertrained. So a bit of mucking around to get everything sorted. The car parking could be better,so you could end up with a walk. The menu is standard pub grub, but well cooked. Prices average.

We attended the George for Sunday dinner like we do most months, when we arrived we were sat down and straight away drink orders and food order were taken ‘perfect’ 45 minutes later we had no food on the table after 2 other tables who had ordered after us were nearly finished we had a young child with us also who was getting hungry. The waitress came over and asked if we wanted another drink and I asked where the food was - she then went of to stand with 4 other staff members still no food - 1 hour later the food finally arrived 3 Sunday dinners all of which were cold and dry! I asked for the manager who came over to the table and refused to feel how cold the food was and was very rude and abrupt. I said I wouldn’t be paying for the meal after 1 hour of waiting and then the food coming cold- his reply was, Well if you want to eat the food eat it and leave! Don’t Pay. We had no apology or explanation for the reason this food had come late and cold. Unfortunately we will not be going back to the George again which is very disappointing as this is somewhere we have usually enjoyed having family meals for many years.

My friend has been to Taste a few times & had often mentioned their homemade food & that I needed to try it too. We entered & were instructed to find a table and found one at the back. We chose our food but last minute I changed my mind after I spotted peppers (?) in the chilli ingredients list - I can’t eat them (although if in largish pieces I’m safe to pick them off) I opted for the lasagne - which strangely had no list of ingredients. We were glad of our hot drinks to pass the time while waiting for our food to arrive. Having drunk her tea my friend asked for more hot water in her teapot but no offer from the server for my now cold coffee to be ’topped up’. Our food arrived & I commented ‘wow’ on the presentation & portions. My friend’s Hunters chicken was huge and my lasagne & chips looked very nice; clearly not factory made imo. Unfortunately/luckily I spotted the finely chopped peppers sadly too tiny to pick out, frustrated I ate what I could - picking out the pasta, tomatoes, mince & carrots. But getting more peppers than I was prepared to risk I gave up leaving much of it picked through on the plate. As we weren’t checked on it wasn’t until our server came to clear & commented on mine ‘beating me’. I replied ‘unfortunately I can’t eat peppers’ her response? ‘You’ll know for next time’. I quietly said to my friend ‘there won’t be one’. Tbf had we been checked on / had the reply been more caring / or the ingredients clearly listed (3 chances there for 5*****) my review would be better. As expected I paid the price later that day … & the day after.

Never again! Food was soggy and had the appearance it had been reheated in a microwave. One of the dishes was wrong and we were asked to pay another £1.50 to deliver the correct dish.

Sat inside to eat. Urgh! Grubby interior. Unclean, sticky and well-worn tables and chairs. Food served hot, but overall quality far less than average. Very run-of-the-mill. Level of service only adequate. We've been in hospitality for over 40 years and always maintained higher quality and levels of service than this. It's a shame, because the pub is historically quaint and set in a picturesque village.

There are now two Chineses I will order from in Cleckheaton. This is a small family run takeaway on the main drag in Cleckheaton, it offers both collection and delivery which ever you require. It has a large menu with a lot of choice, I definitely em recommend the hot and sour soup extra hot followed by a salt pepper dish with seczhuan sauce. The prices are reasonable and would definitely recommend giving this a try.

Great coffee & great service. Bacon sandwiches are excellent, cooked to perfection. All round good, local cafe with friendly, timely service

Ordered a BEST, very greasey and soggy , poor quality sausage, really fatty bacon and very poor quality bread.

Love this place. Friendly, great atmosphere and you can't find better food for the money anywhere else.

Curry’s and kebabs are bang on 👌👌👌

Picked up food from the too good to go app. First time getting pizza from here and it was really nice. Tomato and garlic pizza, BBQ pizza and chips, will be ordering again.
