Update - I have previously written great things about this place but our last visit was a write-off. The place was virtually empty; there were one or two 'reserved' signs on tables but the rest weren't even laid out. There was no one around to seat us and the person behind the bar studiously ignored us and the growing number of people behind us. Ten minutes of waiting later I overheard someone being told that they were only taking pre-booked orders for food. So we left, as did the three other groups behind us and we all had a right old moan in the car park! Come on; some basic hospitality; a simple 'be with you in a minute' or a sign somewhere saying they were not taking walk-ins. Ten minutes of being ignored.. not happy!

Unfortunately I went here today to have Christmas dinner with my brothers family and mine, we got there at 1:50pm and the table was booked for 2pm. We sat down and starters took over an hour to come out. The starters took an hour to come out and in this time the manager came over complaining he was stressed and he couldn’t cope with it. After that, the food that had been sitting under a heat lamp since we arrived at 1.50, was served at 3.30pm. The server was using his hands, other tables were asking me whether they were supposed to be queue or what. The food was inedible as it has been sitting there so long. Everything was rock hard and cold, this was unacceptable. My son’s food didn’t come out and this was 15 minutes after we started to queue. My son is 2 and was screaming as he was hungry and tired. The manager was hiding in the back at this point while the rest of the staff were trying to serve. The manager messaged later accusing us of lying and saying we had finished our plates, when I had a time stamped photo to prove we didn’t eat anything. It’s entirely ruined our Christmas Day, no Christmas dinner, just snacks when we got home as we had planned for a 3 course meal. Just really disappointed and sad, mostly for my son as we had planned a really nice day and this ruined it. Wouldn’t come back here, especially not for a special event.

Me and my wife went to Miller & Carter based on Google rating and because it was the closest to Cheshire Oaks movie theatre. I appreciate that they didn't require booking or wait and had a table ready for us. Initially, I liked the decoration and the atmosphere of the place. There were plenty of people around seemed like a good choice. Shortly after we sat down, my wife started noticing some red flag, things like the lamp on our table was dusty and the toilet was not very clean and has not been well maintained ,unfortunately, I already made an order by the time she came back. I ordered fried calamari , halumi sticks for starters which were not bad, the calamari was slightly too oily. We also ordered Ribeye stake sharing and lobster tail for our main meal, that we told to cook medium but they decided to cook medium rare instead. The main meal took about 47 minutes from the time we ordered. In my opinion, the steak was not worth the price even for medium rare steak I have had better steak. Overall, seems like small detail but they add up and we were not too pleased with the experience.

I’m absolutely disgusted to have visited this restaurant and to be asked upon arrival if I have any allergies, to which I responded yes and explained I cannot eat onion or garlic. I then went on to order the carbonara and asked the waitress to confirm with the chef that there is no onion or garlic in the sauce, to which she said she cannot check. The host who seated us explained she would let the chef know of my allergies so I’m unsure what the difference is. Surely the person who is cooking the food within the kitchen is able to advise what ingredients is in the dish. I was informed this is company policy and they can’t check the packaging, however when I visited the Cheshire oaks restaurant the waiter was incredibly helpful and checked the packaging of the chicken for me to assist. I feel discriminated against for having allergies, that are totally out my control. I was told by the waitress that she is protecting the company’s reputation as you would be liable if she checks… what would make you more liable is if I order something after telling you of my allergies and then I have a reaction. You seriously need to rethink your policy. Every other restaurant I ever visit will adapt their dishes to suit my allergies, as should all food establishments. I was told you will only confirm the top 14 allergens… as though people with all other food allergies are irrelevant! I have never been made to feel so discriminated against in my life. Disgusting!

We spent £595 If I could score this place a zero, I would. Do not go here! The owners clearly do not care about the customers nor their staff. The toilet door was broken; I had to hold the door for another person, or the DJ announced if the toilet was vacant. Went with 17 others for a work Christmas do, as this company advertised Christmas nights and different themes for those nights we chose the 80s night. All were told it would be a Christmas charcuterie board, a glass of prosecco, and a party night. 1. No atmosphere at all. 2. The toilet door was broken, and there was only one toilet. It didn't close at all; the handle had apparently fallen off. 3. A dog-tin of food, which was basically 2 ritz crackers, 1 normal crackers 4 tiny pieces of cheese and ham with a few grapes. 4. It was not a private party as advertised. Either £15 entry or £35 for food. 5. I emailed the company and received no reply. Staff called me the next day to apologize as we all got up and left, but the owners have yet to contact me regarding a refund. It speaks volumes that the staff care about the business, yet the owners do not care at all. Very odd behavior! All I can do is warn others not to waste their money!
