The best restaurants serving American food in England

5 of us arrived, stood in the doorway for 5 minutes waiting to be seated while being ignored by who turns out to be a manager looking really grumpy. Even walked past us to seat the couple stood next to us, still not even acknowledged. Another 5 minutes, where we almost walked out, then the manager grumpily told us that a server was on break so would be 5 minutes. We could see plenty of empty seats but no offer to be seated. We had to ask if we could go to the bar to get a drink while waiting. Thankfully the lad behind the bar was much much friendlier and even apologised for not serving us straight away as he was in the middle of making a drink for another customer. Perfect service with a smile. Once we got drinks we were shown to a table. Ordered and didn't wait long for food. Starters were all really good, starts and stripes and giant mozzarella stick. All 5 of us had different main foods, some better than others. My pain burger was good, the margarita pizza was thin and very crispy (overcooked), the ribs were cooked well but tasted like they were cooked and then just had the bbq sauce put on top of them just before they were brought out, the chicken burger was good and the meatball calzone was really good. No offer of drink to ups and once we had finished food, the dishes were taken and dessert was offered (unwanted this time) but then took us an age to get someone's attention to get the bill. Overall average, with a very grumpy manager that almost cost our business.

It’s American style burger place! A bit pricy compared to the local chippy! The burgers tasted divine though! It’s mostly self service!

My partner just had a steak in here cooked blue and right (without having to sign a disclaimer) thank you we will be back soon!!

Popped in for lunch. Not rushed to order but gave us time. Food and drinks arrived in good time

Fries are too salty not in test

5 Guys never disappoints, but maybe could manage with a bit less salt on the chips!

Seems like so many before us have had a similar experience with the service. Food was great but never felt welcome. Staff were not interested and just really very angry. Lots of huffing and eye rolling, it felt like we were at a Karen's Diner!! A confusion on which starters had bacon and which had facon meant the unhelpful waiter storming back to the kitchen , coming back in a foul mood to say they are remaking the one with facon. We were given the bill before even having chance to look at the desert menu. They definitely wanted us to leave so they could have an early night. I wish I'd have read these reviews before going. It begs the question whether management are actually addressing this like some of their replies to these reviews suggest.

This place is very loud but also has a good atmosphere to take people for the first time. The bar location upstairs with lots of tables nearby is not well thought out and can lead to confusing queues or long wait times. I’d prefer to use the outdoor bar even in colder weather or remove many tables so there’s better spacing for queuing. Lots and lots of drinks selections, you can’t go wrong trying a few and staff will guide you if you aren’t too sure. Outside in summer is amazing fun and a great atmosphere; safe but open.

Five Guys offers tasty and customizable burgers with fresh ingredients, accompanied by generous homemade fries. However, everything is sold separately (burger, fries, drink), which makes the bill quite expensive for fast food. A good option for quality lovers.
