Wow, the decor is beautiful, the staff so friendly, the food amazing & the owner such a nice gentleman, he took time out of his busy day to come & say hello to my frenchie puppy & shown us a video of his frenchie, such personal service. I’d definitely recommend, such a lovely place & extremely good value, thank you.

My mums birthday meal was in March we don't come from Melton, this was recommended and it's a poor tail when your customers can make you feel more welcome than the staff do, a large group near the bar was loud but entertaining, they gave the pub a good atmosphere, if it wasn't for them we'd have ate and drank our drinks and left but we stayed for a couple more as they was so friendly and welcoming, the food was great yay yous expect from a standard pub, we had to wait longer on the puddings than the main courses and when they came they just got slammed onto the table like it was too much of an inconvenience to serve us (which surely is there job role) the cleanliness wise the decor and carpet is mismatched, half the women's cubicles in the toilets don't work and neither does one out of two of the hand dryers, tables are not cleaned after customers leave even though the pub wasn't busy, so other customers was sat sitting on dirty tables even some had still had the left over dirty plates after they had ate their meal!!!!!!!

We were actually here for a Wake. I have been here several times and found it to be a very friendly little pub. The staff had put together a reasonably versatile buffet for the Wake, too much white bread, but that's personal choice. The lemon drizzle cake was outstanding. I was pleased that the barmaid suggested that the surplus food should be taken to the bar to be shared rather than wasted.

We visited the Old Forge this morning for the first time and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted by Lola the dog who made our own little dog very welcome. The outside seating area was extremely pleasant and well kept with a charming brook and weeping willow setting the scene. Our breakfast of bacon and egg sandwiches served on toasted granary bread was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Our hosts were lovely and offered advice on some dog walking routes in the area which we went on to enjoy. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you very much, Jayne, Dean and Rexi x

Lovely food served by people who obviously enjoyed their work. Good management and friendly staff. Great range of desserts which we will try next time.

An impromptu visit and the pub was pretty empty. The waitress tried to sit us on top of other diners which I thought was a bit odd considering there were lots of free tables. Then they parked another family really close we could barely get out. We have children so prefer to be out the way a bit. Pretty average service, had to look for staff. The food was quick but mediocre and for what we had was well overpriced. We won’t be visiting again.

Just returned from lunch. The food was good, however the chap with a beard whom I think was the manager was very rude to me and to his staff. He walked away with our drinks, I followed him to ask if they were for us. He rudely said 'no' then proceeded to bring them to our table with no apology for how he spoke to me. He also shouted at his colleague in front of me and other customers. He was unpleasant and the atmosphere felt toxic.

Pre booked tables were being used, service dreadful, coffee tepid, cake arrived when we had all drunk our coffee, restaurant manager unfriendly and dismissive, tables not been wiped, crumbs under the chairs.Decor lovely and expensive but ‘fur coat and no knickers’ - need to get the essentials right pdq!!One positive - young waiter Tom was a star.
