Highly recommend this place for lunch. Didn't expect such good food, service, and reasonable prices. It's really not easy to find coffee shops serving tasty healthy food in not ridiculous prices. Wild rocket in Goat Cheese and Beetroot salad was crunch and bitter, as should be, sooo fresh.

A great afternoon of showjumping, blows the cobwebs out and a great way to unwind. Shame on the onsite cafe prices. !!! If you're there over a few days it must cost a small fortune 😞😞

We went into the pub after travelling for many hours. We were tired and hungry and weren’t sure if they would let us eat as it was mid afternoon. Thankfully they welcomed us in. We had two of the specials, my husband had beef which was really good and just fell apart. I had succulent chicken with a gorgeous sauce. We both had mash that was creamy and smooth and perfectly cooked vegetables. We should not have managed pudding as we left nothing on our plates but we were tempted by a rice pudding and a roulade - just fantastic food all round. I would highly recommend.

There’s an argument that you shouldn’t recommend good place as next time you come there are no free tables. Saying that the bacon sandwich was the best I have had in a long time and the pancakes fresh and cooked to perfection. We’ll be back!

We came to The Slanted Door for dinner last week and it didn’t disappoint! The amuse bouche to start was a lovely touch (excellent soup), we shared the beef carpaccio and the tuna to start - both of which were excellent! For main I had the lamb which was soft and tender with gorgeous dauphinois potatoes and my husband had the ox cheek which he loved - portion sizes were great but sadly no room for dessert! My only feedback is when we asked for hot drinks after the meal I was told you don’t sell tea - my staple drink to end a meal! Other than that wonderful evening.

Christmas Eve visit with family and my puppy. I can’t believe my local village pub doesn’t allow dogs in. We arrived and sat down with drinks, only to be told we couldn’t be inside. It surprises me that this place doesn’t allow dogs, when so many other places do. It’s a village pub not the Ritz. This was also in the evening and it didn’t seem to be serving food, as then I’d maybe understand slightly. We won’t be visiting again anytime soon when so many nicer places around.

Belated review to record a first rate lunch one Saturday in August. Looks quite modern and slick for its village setting. Not sure what to expect but quickly made very welcome. Good daytime menu, the sort where everything sounded really enticing. A great set lunch menu was good value, the centrepiece was a perfect caesar salad. Sublime. Well worth a visit.

We had the pleasure of attending a bistro night at Dougie’s yesterday, our first visit for a while. As with our first visit, the dining experience is sublime-fantastic food and great service. I thoroughly enjoyed all the courses and, with great company, a lovely evening. We will certainly return.

There were four of us. How lovely to have table service which is becoming so rare these days. The young man was lovely and was on his own and had to work the bar, run food and take orders. Did a brilliant job. The food was very good. Tasty and good value for money. Been looking for somewhere to take my family and friends when they visit from various parts of the country and finally found a place. So definitely going back.

The only plus with this hotel is that it is in town. wont be staying her again... The rooms are very basic, ..
