The best restaurants serving British food in South Kesteven East Midlands

The MH within the grounds of Grimsthorpe is the sole food outlet, excluding ice cream . We arrived lunchtime and most of their menu had sold out, reducing the choice. 2 coffees a bacon sandwich and a sausage bap was ordered. After a short wait they arrived in tin foil. The bacon was cremated and rock hard. The sausage bap, the sausages were partially cooked resulting most of the bacon and the white bread was discarded and some of the sausages not eaten. A poor show at £15.60.

Awesome... I really have been there, done that, from a dollar street banquet to Shimla pinks, I didn't think I was going to get a great spicy, risky hot meal when I moved here. If you want something mild, this is the place, if you want to cry and sweat in pain (or just clear your hay fever) just let them know, great staff, great cooks. Simple - its great, fresh and - great. doesn't need to be anything else, great is perfect.

Such good value - Excellent all round. The quality and freshness of the food is second to none. Friendly as well. And enough staff to handle the queue.

Great bread not doughy makes lovely toast n never ill as have ibs n bad stomach n can't eat bread normally so this does it for me so I can get to eat my toast yippee freezes well too very light n tastes gd all I can say is thanku as after 17 yrs of bn ill with bakery products I can now eat your white tin bread with jam delicious 😄

Thursday lunchtime and nice and busy, had the turkey ciabatta and my wife the sweet potato, both came with roast potatoes and grave, delicious and excellent value at £8.50 each, lovely staff.

Absolutely wonderful! The George is the perfect place to experience Afternoon Tea. Beautifully furnished, decorated, warm and welcoming. The staff were wonderful and the food delicious and fresh. Cannot recommend this experience enough.

Very attentive and friendly staff. 10/10 for the excellent service we received. However, the drink prices were ridiculous and was no surprise that the place was not busy on a Friday night. I pay less when going out to dinner in London's West End, so how can you justify such a massive margin in Stamford? The food was also expensive, compared to what you can get in other places. I would expect this sort of quality in a Witherspoon pub, for a fraction of the price. I don't mind paying for quality but I can't help feeling that I was ripped off. Like I said, the service was probably the best that I've experienced in a long while, but the prices? Never again I'm afraid.

Great food and service for our Xmas party - would thoroughly recommend it! Will be coming back again next year, looking forward to it already

First visit after the change of owner. Staff were very attentive and questioned any allergies. Starters were amazing and plentiful. A nice break before the mains arrived and WOW they were also amazing. None of us had room for a desert. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely return 👍👍

Not allowed in as dogs had wet feet.

We have eaten here on odd occasions previously and it has always been good. Our Christmas meal did not disappoint - the flavours, presentation and general quality were superb. There was no rush between courses and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. My only gripe although this is not the fault of the staff, when we left we noticed my clothes were completely covered in dog hair, this is down to inconsiderate pet owners allowing their dogs to sit on the soft furnishings with no regard for future diners.

Was hoping for better. Wanted to like the chippy but just felt a bit dated all round from the actual restaurant to the food. It was edible and well presented. Nice friendly staff. Prices were ok. Not often I don't want to finish my chippy tea, it just wasn't great and didn't feel to healthy after.

The room I stayed in had no heater in the bathroom and it was -2°c outside so it was very cold, there was no shower and not enough hot water to fill the very narrow bath. Breakfast was in a cupboard in the room and I had to make myself. The host was friendly and helpful . For 85 pounds I would expect more
