It pains me to say this however I was a regular since this opened until last few months. All of the staff pretty much left and unfortunately the quality of drinks has really declined as has the customer service. I feel alot of the time staff have little idea of what they are doing. I now do not use costa as the quality has declined

Caught up with a friend just after Christmas. Didn't know where to go but this place was great. Nice people, the beer was good and it's got a pool table. Will be back again.

Hands down, the worst cup of coffee I have ever tried to drink. Burnt, stale beans - bitter charcoal! (By stark contrast, the tea and hot choc were up to scratch if you fancy a hot drink there) Other than that, good pub grub, nice setting, clean and tidy with friendly, helpful staff.

The perfect place to go for a few days away. A stones throw from the sea and shops nearby. The hotel room was comfortable and had everything you need. Tea/coffee/biscuits, TV and free WiFi. The food was delicious and well presented. I had the lamb shank and ( the meat was so tender), followed by sticky toffee pudding. Breakfast was very good as well. Cereal was offered and a lovely fried breakfast. Plenty of choice on the menu. I would definitely recommend the lobster.

I put my dad up in here when he comes over. It does the job and is close by. Doesn’t cost much for a night. Pretty quiet and beds are okay for comfort. Curtains could do with a wash and bathroom renovating. Some damp water patches about but it’s expected for size of building. Enjoy it! My dad always does! We prefer it to others on same road

Christmas lunch v good. Warm welcome from friendly attentive staff. Excellent service & food ( many people needed ‘doggie bags’).Diners in good spirits. Only criticism, no heating on so rather cool temperature, towards end of meal several guests put their coats on. Would still recommend this place. Thank you to all who made Christmas Dat a pleasure for us. Happy New Year

Worst fish I have ever eaten The batter tasted dreadful it was not cooked enough. Inside still raw batter. The fish was bland and watery had no taste at all. Defo was not cod. Waited ages, my fish was cooked 20mins before it was served to me and was just warm. Need another member of staff to serve. Most of the food ready and cooked just sitting in warming area until this one chap was able to serve.

Super food and friendly service. The portions were huge (and delicious, I loved my chicken curry) and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We attended for a family member’s 70th birthday and they allowed us to bring our own cake and decorate before hand. We recieved a discount because of staying in the local air bnb, which was another bonus! We would definitely visit again, but unfortunately we do not live locally, however, I would recommend The Criss Keys to anyone else staying locally.

We stayed for two nights to visit nearby Thursford, where we were booked to see the Christmas show. Initial impressions weren’t great. The room was monastic, with only the bed, a rickety cupboard and two hard chairs doubling as bedside tables. The curtains looked like they had been made of monks’ habits. This might be a deliberate design vibe chosen by the hotel, given its proximity to the shrine. The bathroom was very small and a bit tired. Having said that, everything was clean and functional and the bed was comfortable. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant. The staff and locals were friendly. Breakfast was good, included in the price. We went out for the day and left our key at reception. We returned after the show at about 22.10 to find the place closed and no one on duty. We were locked out. Our key on the hook behind reception or our belongings in the room hadn’t suggested that someone ought to wait for all registered guests to be accounted for. We called an out of hours number and the manager did return to let us in. She said they ‘didn’t take any notice of the keys’ which seems like a cavalier attitude to residents’ comfort or wellbeing. I was also surprised and a bit shocked that there was no staff on site overnight in case of emergency. However, the manageress was friendly and didn’t seem to mind having been called out. Maybe it happens quite a lot. When we returned to our room we found it had not been made up for us. The tea tray had not been replenished so we couldn’t make ourselves a hot drink. We paid £225 for our two night stay, so it wasn’t a ‘budget’ price, but I feel we got budget treatment.
