We picked up a meal deal in the early morning then had lunch there later. Friendly staff and good food. Very well priced. The sandwiches on granary bread were stuffed full of filling and the bread was fresh, soft and just gorgeous. The lentil and bacon soup was wonderful too. Highly recommended. Support small local businesses and give the expensive pubs a miss. 😊

Rang at short notice to try for an early table and they kindly fitted me in. Lovely food and nice staff too. Went for the Chicken Panang which came in a nice rich sauce. Good sized helping too. Will be back when in the area again.

Arrived by bus. Good coffee and pleasant staff but although members of Suffolk Wildlife we were expected to pay to visit our countryside and to see our birds. Is nothing free anymore.

Holidaying nearby, I booked a table for Sunday lunch, the two of us plus our sprocker spaniel, Herbie. We arrived 30 minutes early but it was no problem and we were warmly welcomed and seated. The Star Inn is what I’d call a proper old-fashioned pub. Catering mainly for locals, it was doing a roaring trade during our visit. The customers were friendly and the servers were lovely - one jolly lady in a glittery Santa hat was particularly taken by ‘the little ‘un’, our admittedly adorable pup Herbie, and had several interactions, feeding him a couple of doggy treats AND bringing him a bag of little biscuits to take away. We ordered traditional roasts - beef for me and a beef and turkey mix for my husband. The lady who took our order asked if we’d like horseradish and cranberry sauce (yes please and no thank you) and brought this to the table BEFORE the food arrived - thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve never understood why most establishments wait until they’ve delivered your food to ask whether you want any condiments then disappear for five minutes to fetch them. The food was delicious, the horseradish hot enough to blow your socks off, and the portions were very generous - my husband couldn’t manage all his meat (lightweight!) but it was wrapped up to take away. (After a quick rinse at home to remove any gravy and horseradish, Herbie thought Christmas had come early when he had half for his breakfast this morning!) Although we had very little room left after our mains, we somehow managed to share a treacle sponge pudding and custard, which was equally delicious. A really enjoyable experience made even better by the warmth of the welcome and the fact that the pub is truly dog-friendly. We’ll definitely be back when we’re nearby again in the spring.

Great location and happy smiling staff. Jack the manager has got this sorted. Relaxed, friendly and above all has really nice coffee.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing me and the hubby have visited the restaurant 8 times + in 2 weeks the food is wonderful every dish we have had has arrived piping hot the steak and mushroom pie in my opinion is the best I have ever tasted. The food is lovingly presented the staff are really friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble, thank you to you all see you in March.

Really friendly and welcoming with a cosy chilled atmosphere.. me and my partner both had the big breakfast and it was very good! Definitely recommended and hope the new owners can make a go of it.

Popped by today, had the most amazing halloumi wrap and hot chocolate, the hot chocolate is the best, cream and marshmallow. All served with a smile from the staff

We ordered two mains and two desserts from the online menu for our Sunday lunch. The food was glorious in quality and quantity and was presented in sensible cardboard boxes.

...oh my goodness! Who cares if it has a week's calories in a slice? It's a good thing I don't live locally: I'd have to pop in every day and would probably be several stones heavier.

Went in for breakfast was met by friendly staff . Lovely breakfast bap and wife had crumpets . Really tasty food and fresh pots of proper tea

My porridge turned up cold, so I sent it back. It came back and it came back cold a second time. I asked for sourdough toast with my breakfast, but was told “it only comes with certain meals”. They said they could give me sourdough bread, but they didn’t bother giving me that either. The other plates of breakfast were not hot either. Overdone poached eggs. Some of the staff were not unduly friendly, or helpful.
