Popped in for a lovely lunch, and stayed longer than planned in the end. Friendly staff, efficient yet relaxed atmosphere with a wide selection of food choices and gins! Shame the weather was dire or we'd have loved to spend the afternoon in the garden.

Visited this cafe which on Trip advisor is still listed as Owl cafe, which is an old name for the premises. Had a latte and decaf coffee, there were sweet cake accompaniments available. The staff were very efficient pleasant and well supported and managed. The place has a light airy feel. It’s family and disabled friendly with high chairs available. There were a good few of the patrons eating ( it was lunchtime). There is parking to the rear of the Church, outside chairs and tables, with room to leave buggies and assistance scooters within the curtilage. You can bring your own alcoholic drinks to accompany a main meal and no corkage is charged.

It was a wonderful end of term with colleagues. The drinks are fresh. We tried the wings they were spot on. We stayed in the garden. Loved . Very good.

I can’t comment on food as we didn’t stay long enough to try it. But the beer was awful. No lemonade so I couldn’t have a shandy and the extension at the back was full of plastic flowers and greenery. It reminded me of a garden centre cafe. We didn’t finish our beer as it was so bad and went to the red lion next door which was so much nicer.

The Boot, an award-winning gastro pub in the heart of the pretty village of Histon, Cambridgeshire, is renowned for serving fresh, seasonal food alongside perfectly poured pints, an expertly curated wine list and a delicious selection of cocktails. The menu champions local, seasonal produce, and we had an excellent evening meal recently, starting with some delicious cocktails and salty Boquerones with bread while we perused the menu. The Cheese Soufflé with Coastal Cheddar sauce was a light, flavourful appetiser, and the French Onion Soup with Gruyère & croutons was a warming bowlful of comfort food at its finest. The Grilled Hot Smoked ChalkStream Trout with beetroot, cauliflower & crème fraîche was prettily presented, and the rich, earthy Celeriac Fondant was served with celeriac remoulade & walnuts. Our main courses included a golden Artichoke & Chestnut Mushroom Pithivier with pickled girolles, braised baby onions, snd grilled leeks in a glossy red wine & port sauce. The fish dishes were outstanding; ChalkStream Trout Fillet in prawn butter & white wine sauce, with prawn potatoes & wilted kale, and Hake Grenobloise with mash, brown butter & capers. And the Free-Range Beef Burger in a sesame brioche bun, with garlic mayonnaise & chips came with a variety of topping choices. The Boot offers a warm welcome, excellent food choices, and throughout January until 8th February, there’s a 50% discount off main courses!

My wife found this pub as a stop off on our journey from Birmingham to London via A14 and M11. We had lunch which was fantastic. I had Thai green curry and my wife had the salmon tempura. Both reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly. It is out of the way, buy worth the diversion for the food.
