The best restaurants serving British food in County Durham North East

Fish had obviously been cooked and left to stand for quite a while. Batter very hard, fish dry as we're the chips. Definitely not worth £9 per portion as charged.

Lovely cosy pub 10 mins from Beamish easy to find and plentiful parking. The room was a good size with tea coffee ect and toiletries included. Nice comfy bed, basic bathroom lovely and warm plus a full length mirror which is always a bonus I find when you're getting ready to go out. We are in the evening, Sunday roast and it was delicious..I had 3 meats and proper Yorkshire puddings with potatoes and veg and delicious gravy. Breakfast was great too. This pub is in a great location clean staff excellent and would definitely return. Thank you for our enjoyable stay

Table was well prepared. We were informed while ordering drinks that the kitchen was short staff - managing expectations well. When we ordered it did not take that long for the food to be served. The steak we ordered was perfectly cooked. Everyone enjoyed their food!

Went for a meal with the family, the staff were all very helpful. Unfortunately the cellar had flooded so all draught beers were off . Luckily the cask beer was working so all good. Had the philly cheese burger which was excellent.

We love this place and eat here often but today we arrived at 11:00 and they were not ready to serve food. If your opening times say 11:00, then be ready at 11:00. We had to leave because we were hungry. What a pity.

Very friendly staff and decorations were beautiful. Food was amazing. Enjoyed it so much we had to go back twice in the weekend.

Take away Christmas dinner absolutely fantastic not disappointed at all was told about it decided to order this year normally cook for about 12 seen as we where having a quiet one this year decided to do this would definitely do it again eaten in the restaurant many times never disappointed thank you

Good location for group meals, plenty of food on the plate and a good price, also ample car park and easy to access. Building is well apointed

Great traditional British pub! Untidy, a tad chaotic but wonderful! Didn't try any food so can't comment, but great fun on the beer!! 😁

Just come back from a lovely carvery Sunday lunch. Excellent choice of freshly prepared meat joints and veg, excellent friendly service, excellent value.

La comida aquí era increíble. He visto este lugar, pero nunca he estado y me alegro de haberlo hecho! La carne era tan suave y mi hijo todavía estaba comiendo bien después de que terminamos. Nunca ha comido tanto cuando hemos estado fuera. No suelo publicar reseñas, pero esto valió la pena la mirada hacia arriba y sin duda volveré de nuevo!

Portion sizes are massive!! Very fast orders & service + great food.

Friendly staff but overall extremely slow. 3hrs free parking won't cover 3- courses. Food not worth the prices which is why discounts are always available.
