The best restaurants serving British food in County Durham North East

At £28 per person from one of the top hotels in the North East I was expecting a lot better, 4 small finger sandwiches each, 4 scones and small cakes. Not a lot of effort and no selection of desserts cakes and pastries as advertised. I had a flat white which was cold so asked for another and received a cold cappuccino! We had been gifted afternoon tea for 2 as a birthday gift (£56) and so I emailed the hotel to ask if I brought my niece and nephew would I have to buy another two teas and was told no. We were seated and I gave my gift voucher to the staff explained it was two teas. Embarrassingly we were charged £56 for an additional two teas. Also £11 for a glass of wine!! Not recommended at all. Very disappointing.

Grim. Personal miserable del bar. Inodoros asquerosos, sin luces ni rollos de papel higiénico, sanibinas llenas de botellas y otras basuras. Una recomendación si usted está pensando en ir aquí, utilice otro pub para las necesidades de higiene. Irónicamente la cerveza - Camden ales - estaba bien. Podría haber sido fácilmente una gran visita, pero realmente no lo fue.

El personal era amable y sí se llevó dos porciones de patatas fritas de la factura debido a los problemas con la comida. Dos personas tenían el plato de pescado que dijeron que era muy agradable, sin embargo, no venía con muchas patatas en absoluto. Really poor service clubhouse was closed someone in the office wasn't interested professional apologised well stocked shop,course was ok wouldn't go back plenty more clubs who actually provide a service.

Have been here many times before but never again 5pm on a Friday,think I got fish leftover from the night before.Hard batter hardly any fish and even the peas were cold.Was disgusting.

We recently visited this restaurant that we had previously enjoyed for its great food and service. Unfortunately, our most recent experience fell short of expectations in several ways. Upon ordering drinks, we had to wait 20 minutes for the first round to arrive- it was two cocktails but this is an awful long time bearing in mind our table was booked for 8:00pm so quite late really On to the starters, compared to previous visits, a bread bun was served with hummus instead of the usual flatbread or breadsticks, which was a bit unusual. My husband enjoyed his meatball starter. The service further lagged as we waited over 15 minutes for our empty starter plates and drinks to be cleared. The next round of drinks took as long as the first. On to the main course, despite the understanding that meat needs to rest, the steaks we ordered arrived cold. The waiter took them back and returned them warmed, but all of the accompaniments were cold as a result. Additionally, the chips were disappointingly rock solid, and there was a lack of butter on the dry steaks and the promised greenery was missing from the plate, both stated on the menu. It was evident that the restaurant was understaffed, as indicated by the delays in service for both drinks and meals. Even when we expressed our concerns to the waiter, the manager, in the background, did not make an appearance or address our dissatisfaction. It’s really disappointing that our recent dining experience here was marred by slow service (not the wonderful waiters fault who was running around), cold food, and a lack of attention to detail. I hope that they can address these issues- really unexpected from The Apartment Group. We’ve eaten in many of their venues and this visit was by far the worst.

Este lugar es terrible ahora, solía ser un bar de rock y vibra fresca, ahora lleno de personal grosero que te hace sentir inútil, la chica con el pelo teñido se sienta y habla ¡Sobre ti mientras te ríes con tus colegas, no tengas hielo en el bar! El bar lleno estaba vacío, literalmente muerto. Ella nos sirvió una ronda y luego procedió a decirnos que estábamos demasiado borrachos considerando que teníamos 1 bebida. No volveré a este pub, solía ser genial, pero ha bajado colina abajo junto a los sofás rojos de pvc hortera.

My friend and I tried Bells yesterday and have to say that I will carry on going to Downey 's across the road. We expected a menu with a smaller portion option or an expected Pensionr Special. The prices were far too high and no choices of cod bites or anything smaller, the tea and coffee was also a rip off.

We went for an afternoon tea and a spa day at Raddison Blu Hotel, and as always, had been a great experience. They refurbished the restaurant, and it looks so great. The spa day was really nice, too. Shout out to the massage therapists Clare L and Janine, who were very good. Ladies, you made our day! Thank you!! ❤️

Decent pub and food, very nice staff

Great store and extremely helpful staff

Lovely inn with good beer and great Indian Street food as well as Chinese and traditional fayre. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Having just moved to the area we're going to make it our local. Cannot comment on the rooms as we haven't stayed.

I am very disappointed with the visit to the coffee shop, I was served a cake, dry and looked like it was a month old, when I pointed out its freshness, I was served another equally dry one + 2 cubes of butter
