The best restaurants serving British food in County Durham North East

We had such a lovely time today at the quarry tea house. We had afternoon tea. The attention to detail is scound to none. The food is outstanding and the staff are so helpful. We will definitely will be returning. 😊

We happened across the Tees’Pot by accident after we had visited Low Force for a morning walk so we decided to give it a go. It’s quite basic in appearance and small but in a very quaint way. Please don’t let this put you off going in. After we were seated we all ordered some food the cheese scones and soup (curried vegetable) were very nice. My father in law had two mince pies with cream and he thoroughly enjoyed them. The food was extremely well prepared and filling. The staff are friendly and know their menu well. The prices seemed reasonable for a cafe in a tourist area and I’d go there again if I was in the area.

A real gem of a place. It’s cosy and laid back feel is great but the food and coffee is outstanding! We will be regulars here each time we visit Durham.

We had a family celebration on Saturday lunchtime, there was 10 in the party. We booked in advance and our food was ordered in advance. The food was well presented, hot and everyone enjoyed their choices they made. Some of the family had a pudding/coffee/fea and all enjoyed their choices. The service was attentive and overall we enjoyed the lunch. Thank you to all involved

Great meal large portions pleasant staff good value

Visited on a Saturday evening with a larger family group for a special occasion. The restaurant were happy to allow us to pre-deliver balloons and a table runner as a surprise, which were set up perfectly for our arrival. The service was fantastic and the waitresses so friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the little extra touches. There was so much to choose from on the menu, what I ordered was so delicious, but it was hard to choose! Everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed their meal and all but 1 had desert, which shows how much we were enjoying ourselves! I would definitely recommend Valentines and look forward to returning again soon.

A friend took us for an evening meal there, food was good, I took his recommendation of fish and chips and it was good. Menu extensive and lots of specials. Beer and wine selection adequate and reasonably priced. Service very good, even though they were very busy that night. Good decor and ambience, friendly place.

Good food. We popped in for brunch really enjoyed our chorizo sausage all day breakfast.
