The best restaurants serving British food in Gateshead North East

I came for lunch for the first time with my mum, who uses a wheelchair. The access was no problem and there's a stairlift (the restaurant is upstairs). As soon as we walked in Claire made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious and the service so friendly - the perfect balance between attentive and unobtrusive. We'll definitely be back.

Lunch today, nice and quiet as 11 45 , so not many in and meals good portions staff very friendly and obliging as requested extra serviettes. Prices good only one problem salt was wet but would still go back as I use too much salt anyway and I could have asked for another salt seller. Have 6friends who lunch for each other’s birthdays so will suggest going here.

Absolutely spot on, couldn’t fault it. It’s busy so they’re clearly doing something right. Lush honest fresh food

Was at Gateshead College for a meeting & popped into Greenhouse for lunch. Got a fabulous spiced lentil takeaway soup, complete with warm crusty roll, butter, knife and spoon all for £2.50. The soup portion size was excellent value. It was piping hot and super tasty & the warm roll was a fabulous touch, well done. More than I expected for a takeaway soup option. Highly recommend it. 🙂

Been quite a few times now and tried different items for lunch from the menu, the jacket potatoes are gorgeous, service is always great,lovely lunch every time I'm visiting Gateshead. Great place to go !

Esta granja es un cómodo paseo cruzando el Derwent a pie de nuestra casa. Hay un amplio aparcamiento si vas en coche, que evita el paseo cuesta arriba en coche! Hay un montón de interesantes esculturas de vidrio alrededor de la granja. Los salones de té son acogedoras y limpias, con actividades para niños. La comida es sencilla pero sabrosa. Normalmente tenemos el café y la tarta, pero he tenido sopa el pasado otoño.

Chilli and garlic chicken tikka curry is the best I ever had. Good priced food, staff really polite and naan breads are a must.

Booked the upstairs room for a retirement party and it was fantastic. The buffet was outstanding, one of the best I have had. There was a good choice, great quality and loads of it. Everyone took a doggy bag home. The chef popped in to make sure we were happy too. Our barmaid was great all night too, very happy and friendly we never had to queue, she kept our tables clear, remembered our drinks orders and was lovely and chatty. She even helped us with the suprise for the retiree. The booking was made easy, they made sure we had everything we needed and checked on the night that we were happy too. We will definately use the room again for any functions we might have. Thank you Bay Horse Team, you definately run the best bar in Whickham x

Good that it’s traditional, clean and friendly but sad that the only food on offer on a Friday lunchtime visit was a bag of pork scratchings (or crisps etc).

The best named cafe in the area but sadly far from the best cafe. That they don't serve cooked eggs pretty much sums it up.

This has to be the best fish and chips in the north east.

A lovely Sunday lunch for a family of 10. We hadn't been here before but will definitely be back. Every one agreed the nicest Sunday lunches we've had. Between us we had chicken, lamb and beef dinners, followed by various puddings. Generous portions of meat and veg with massive Yorkshire. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. All round a great time
