The best restaurants serving British food in Castle Carlisle North West

Booked for a table of 7.everthing was great couldn't fault the food we was all happy with what we ate.The staff was great (especially Conner)he made sure our table had everything we needed.Would definitely return

I cannot truly rate the quality of any of the above as we experienced none of them. After waiting for an hour and a half for our food to arrive we enquired, politely, where said food was. We were then booted from the restaurant for such audacity, which at least profited me £50 so you can rest assured I would not be complaining about this were I not sitting upon the moral high-ground.

Really lovely room - spacious, warm & nicely decorated - recommend. Good bathroom. Great dining & service in the evening . I’ve eaten here several times over the years & it’s always good. One comment however - breakfast billed as 8-10am. Also told this on arrival & there’s a notice at breakfast room with these times. I needed breakfast at 8am but there was no one there & room was dark. Waited for 5 mins & a staff member arrived but was not kitchen - she apologised & said she was waiting for kitchen staff to come in . No one came so I had to leave with no breakfast. So fine if you don’t have an appointment !

This is the second time we have been here now. The first time was just for some take away chips and curry sauce. Returned a few weeks later again on the way home from the lakes and had the pensioners special (we aren’t pensioners). Perfect size if you aren’t starving. Fish was lovely with light crispy batter, lovely chips and again … their amazing curry sauce with the bits in. This place (plaice) is lovely and clean. As a lot of fish and chip places can be a bit on the grubby side so keep up the good work.

Nice visit to the beehive on New year's Day. Chicken wings were delicious with crispy skin. The fish and chips were some of the best pub fish and chips I've had in while.

Driver was amazing and gave exceptional service!!

Comimos aquí cuando el espectáculo de leek era. ¡era como parte del pueblo. muy acogedor.La comida es simplemente como su madre le daría.Me encanta ir a pubs como éste cuando estoy de vacaciones. sólo me hubiera gustado tiene una cerca de donde vivo.

It's a nice spot to hangout with a good selection of produce , gift shop and cafe. Amble car parking as well.

Lovely ambience ,dull menu . Made to feel like an idiot when I ordered a soup and a cheese scone .Instead of soup for me and a cheese scone for my Mum please .Separately . Not v busy at 1pm on a sunny day in school holidays .

Dreadful! Ordered ahead as wanted gluten free option. Staff very unfriendly and had shocking attitudes! Staff incorrectly labelled my food - despite my gluten intolerance. Spent entire weekend violently throwing up as a result of their lack lustre approach. Avoid at all costs!!

Ordered waffle and mini donuts as a Saturday night treat for myself and partner, almost 2 hours later no delivery, I have just phoned them now and was told they did come and knocked on the door, we were sat with the living room door open to hear the front door and there's not a chance anyone knocked on the door. Been told to go through food hub for a refund and they refused to refund us (sweet tooth) . Appalling customer service and at over £15 I think that's disgusting. We both work hard and fancied a treat. Good customer service would be refunding the money or re sending the items out but they refused that too. Don't waste your time or money!
