Popped in for a cheeky wine with my wife and as ever you enter a calm oasis of old fashioned civility and impeccable service at the best bar in town.....by a million miles. A superb glass of wine sipped at an unhurried pace served by young attentive professional staff. Just..... lovely!

I had quite a poor experience whilst at the Cosy Club. Can't really fault the service or the Bloody Mary and it's not the staffs fault, but for close to £17, I'd expect a lot more than what was put on my plate. It was insulting and I'd be absolutely embarrassed if I had to put what was put down in front of me if I worked there. How they can get away with that is astonishing. Terrible.

I was incredibly lucky to win a £50 voucher for dinner for two as part of the Chester Metric Marathon golden ticket goody bag. And what can I say, we had a great time. The food was awesome and included two starters, two mains and a bottle of Prosecco as my prize. Our waitress was wonderful, the food was delicious and we were very happy. We will be visiting you again for sure. Thank you so much for your generosity!

Total disaster. We had an early reservation and everything started fine. Then I noticed it seemed busy. It turns out they had a wedding with over 40 people right next to us!!!! I was eating my steak and a boy was playing his game Boy about 20 cm from my face plus the rest of the 40 people all around us. One man was leaning on my table!!! We only had half a meal as we couldn’t eat anymore as it was very uncomfortable. I then told the restaurant manager that this was ruining our meal yet he still charged us the full £97 for the meal we managed to have. I then spoke to reception as they were more helpful. The waiter who put us on the table right next to the wedding reception came out acting like the big man like it was my fault that there were 40 people standing round around my table (one in a wedding dress). I spoke to the manager who said they couldn’t do refunds and would do me a special offer if I came again yet I told him I’d stayed in the hotel several times as a guest and eating in the restaurants but only this time was a total total disaster. Even writing this review still shocks me that this could happen in a five star hotel. He finally knocked off £38. Why would you put people next to a wedding reception and forget to mention it? Even though I made a complaint, they expected us to pay the full price!!!!! I’m not sure what’s going on here but things have clearly taken a slide. Very shocked and disappointed.

We had a tasty afternoon tea here at the weekend. We chose two of the traditional afternoon teas and two gentleman afternoon tea. As a table of four this was plenty. We were really impressed with the amount of choice of offer, and the food was delicious! Especially the Welsh rarebit, scones and sandwiches. We had the breakfast tea but a huge selection of fruity teas too. We were greeted warmly when we arrived at the hotel, and the restaurant staff were both friendly and professional. The tea was served in the opulant Arkle bar which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A tasty, cosy, treat before heading out to see the nearby Chester Christmas markets! I would recommend!

My mum and I visited here for afternoon tea. All of the staff were so polite and professional. It really made the difference and something that you don’t see so regularly in hospitality this side of the pandemic. All of the food was excellent and it was nice to be offered extra sandwiches too. We chose the gentleman’s option and it’s highly recommended. My only tiny bit of constructive criticism was the room was a bit tired in its decoration. Slightly faded glory.

I was treating a friend to an overnight stay near Chester with the first day being spent on a shopping spree in the city, something that was long overdue thanks to the covid lockdown. I tried to find somewhere a little different for us to eat that lunchtime as the restaurant we would normally use had sadly closed permanently. We found this a rather unusual place and opted for the tapas style small plates. With hindsight, we should have ordered less than we did as the portions were larger than expected. The decor was a little odd and not particularly to my taste. The service was fairly attentive without being over the top and as far as we could tell, all covid guidelines were followed.
