An overall unpleasant experience : Not wheelchair friendly ; food was greasy and tasteless, orders were missing items, bread was stale ; high prices ; small portions not served on plates and balanced awkwardly on top of each other making it difficult to eat ; menu was not provided, and when offered was incorrect and had errors on items ; condiments and cutlery were not provided ; one of the people who ate here became ill afterwards. It should also be noted that the food hygiene rating for the location was 4 out of 5 at the time of review.

Friendly, nice staff. However, it took far too long to get a sandwich (nearly half an hour) . I'd finished my drink by the time I got it, with no offer of a refill or apology for the wait. I think they were doing a take out order. That's fine, but tell people if there is going to be a long wait. Also, not the owners fault but It's not the place for a quiet time. Very loud regulars talking to each other like they were in the next valley. Again, this is no reflection on the staff, who were nice. Just my experience on the day

Our waitress was lovely and so attentive but the lady manager made me feel very unwelcome and pressured to rush my food. I also overheard her criticising another table. The food was ok but nowhere near the standard of other cafes near by. I hate being negative about small businesses but I really didn’t feel welcome. I understand it’s Christmas but don’t take on reservations if you can’t cope.

Called as never been before. Ordered the big breakfast and a standard one. Sausages were soft so been microwaved, black pudding over cooked, bacon so so, all Luke warm not hot. If you like this standard then defo value for money. I didn’t think it was nice at all. Won’t be returning.

Beautifully presented, full of trinkets and sweetly decorated. . Service lovely, staff very nice and friendly. A little cramped if you have a pushchair and not really for very small children as there's not much room. . . and too much to touch for little fingers . . but otherwise, visit !!! We had a giant scone each with cream and jam. Yummy!

ordered food and it took about an hour and a half to come. When it came toast was literally charcoal! we asked for no tomatoes in breakfasts and they put tomatoes in 2 of the breakfasts also asked for mushrooms and they didn’t put mushrooms on. I called and had to speak to 3 different people who kept taking the phone off eachother and all were very rude didn’t resolve my problem told i was going to be waiting ages because they were busy even though it was there fault and they continued to say just get a refund through just eat. Never ordering again! Hash browns also had green inside 🤢

Very underated, drinks in paper cups, tables dirty had to ask for a cloth to clean and we were given a serviette to do it ourselves, the place wasn't even busy staff sat at table chatting with each other. Had to go back and ask for cake(which was very average)which had been ordered with drinks, no apology. Definitely won't be going again

Great experience from the outset; service, freshness, personal touch, all excellent. I really can't recommend Alley Cats highly enough.

If you didn't know it was there you could easily miss this charming bistro hidden behind the reception of the Laurie's center. I think it's only open until 3pm but for lunch it's perfect. Nice atmosphere, pleasing menu, good coffee and quick friendly service, a nice antidote to the huddle and bustle of the town centre. Give it a try!

My husband popped in this morning and ordered a breakfast for himself and a tuna Mayo and cheese jacket potato for me, now we’ve been here before and the jacket potato was lovely last time (my husband needed to run over to the shop to get tin of tuna though as the cafe didn’t have any in..) but this time it was just an absolute joke- I opened it and it was a tiny potato, no salad, with cheese and a tin of dry tuna just tipped over the top.. no Mayo in sight.. so dry it went in the bin.. clearly Gaynor couldn’t be bothered this morning. Very disappointed, won’t be back again.
