The best restaurants serving British food in Guildford South East

I think this is the best place to get a coffee in Guildford. I always go here when in the town centre.

Had a lovely sandwich & coffee there today. We travelled quite a long way (30 miles) and were disappointed we could not book ahead. It’s a long way to come without a guarantee of a table. Katy our server was fantastic. She was very efficient, friendly and helpful. I feel there are a few too many tables squeezed in now, which is fine but not with children, dogs and normal patrons, a bit frantic Thanks so much

Food was lovely, and great staff

Is our first time here , we booked for a Christmas Day menu £125 per person we are at last sitting at 4 pm , which means we are the last table to be served , we picked this place because of the menu with what I can have prawn and lobster. When we arrived to our table and seated 16:05pm our table was tiny and is on the stairs where people passed and i couldn’t moved my chairs back to sit in properly but they have sorted it out by moved us to another table that just became available that’s really kind , We order a bottle of red wine to share and large bottle of water , our canapé arrived very quickly , followed with our stater less then 10 mins , Our mains arrived around 16:55pm , my starter and mains was perfectly cooked and presented and tasted delicious , My partner mains was Worcestershire free range turkey ballotine with only 1 piece of turkey in the middle and it was more fatty layer less turkey meat, he cut it off he couldn’t eat it , all the vegetables and the trimmings That comes with my mains which it a lots to have with just one piece of turkey with fatty layer on it , We didn’t complain or make any comment about it because we understand it’s a special day for everyone and we understand that the restaurant were up early to prepare food for everyone, We didn’t get Christmas crackers like everyone else does till our dessert arrived at 17:27 pm , we didn’t bother to ask why and no staff or manager pay any attention to that or even check back on our meals . We left before 6 pm while there’s still other tables there , On our way home we still talking about Christmas crackers we didn’t have this year it’s suppose to be a traditional how you celebrate Christmas Day with family and loved ones , Thank you to the waiters who had been up dine 7am and seated us to a different tables , a lovely waitress who bring warm cooked food to our tables , I feel that I have to leave this reviews after so many thought. We hired Tudor Antiques for my 40th. Very centrally located in Guildford, it's a superb venue for private hire. A unique and quirky venue with lovely staff. Thank you Sarah & Team.

No LONGER a first class lunch at Kinghams. Great service in idyllic surroundings. Hey Jack I shall NOT be making further visits with business colleagues and friends. UPDATE 12 AUGUST 2022. SADLY WE NO LONGER VISIT THIS WONDERFUL RESTAURANT Reason... I would always go for the Steak on the menu but it is not to be found on the menu anymore. My partner suffers a fish allergy so that rules out much for her. My friends say let's go to Kinghams for lunch and we have to say NO. I Used to love lunch there with friends but it's not my sort of dining anymore such a shame that an English Restaurant does not offer a decent steak anymore. Sadly now overpriced and pretentious. And I'm NOT going Veggie. But good luck to you all for some great memories. Sadly the response from the management did not answer my question so have down graded my score.

Beautiful food. Attentive staff

We had a delicious lunch at the Anchor for a pre-Christmas get together with some old friends. Especial mention for the (dived) Scallop starter and the excellent Affogato

This is a great pub. The staff is very friendly. The food is good, but not great. We tried the loaded potatoes and the burgers. About 12 beers on tap. The MXR Ap will get you a free drink if you register with a UK phone number.

A nice place to be! Food is quite nice, with decent portions for all. Items are made to a high quality, but more of a variety in the menu, offering more unusual items (ie: more international) would be good. Service is adequate on the whole. Staff are relatively friendly, but responding to a question regarding the status of the food with, "It's probably ready I think. But I don't know," is a bit dodgy. Food did take quite a long time to arrive, even when there were not many. Atmosphere is nice to be around, and nice decoration throughout.

The steak menu looked expensive at £65 for two, but included a very nice bottle of wine, and the steak, sauce and choice of two veg sides were excellent.

Nice quiet place with a very warm service. Almost always full

We called in for supper on our way to where we were staying for the night. The pub was small and quiet, but friendly. The one staff member on duty was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. We only had burgers but they were well cooked and fresh and the chips were amazing!

Since Keith and Wendy left, this place has gone downhill. Visited a couple of times to meet up with friends! The toilets are disgusting! They're often 'out of order' or in a filthy state! Some of the hand dryers don't work! The decor is dirty and in desperate need of renewing! I wouldn't eat there if it was free!!
