The best restaurants serving British food in Isle of Wight South East

Waited 30 minutes outside in the cold, only 2 people in the long queue were actually served! All the rest of the orders were for people who had ordered by phone. Not a fish and chip shop as people were ordering chicken, burgers which none were cooked! Terrible service! I left along with another 2 people who didn’t want to wait anymore!! I will not be going back …

When the chicken is served with a steak knife, and you still struggle to cut through its time to give up serving food. The garlic chicken was actually inedible and the fish pie came with complimentary hairs.

The food was delicious the bar staff were excellent it's got plenty of seating for eating inside or outside in the sunshine it's spotlessly clean with a lovely atmosphere well worth a visit .went for a Christmas meal of turkey and all the trimmings was delicious finished off with Christmas pudding happy days

Very friendly staff, seated with ease and without fuss on a busy Sunday in December. Good value, large helpings, phenomenal beef, fantastic fish and chips/roast potatoes to die for! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. “The perfect chips!!” “This was the best pub roast I have ever had!” Would definitely recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a lovely meal here today. The Xmas spiced rum was delicious, as was the burger and sausage and mash. The pub itself is so nicely decorated and a lovely building. Very friendly staff. We would come again.

They are seriously busy because the food, views and staff are amazing. Parking is limited so please car pool, if you can. Been twice and can honestly say that the staff are wonderful. The food is yum but you must save space for the dessert, you won't be disappointed 😋

Great gluten free options and so tasty , we will be back on our next visit, shame winter opening times are short just 3 days a week.

Nice decoration, friendly staff but the food was very disappointing. Steak pie too salty and a minute portion of mashed potatoes. The crumble consisted of a few biscuit crumbs and the Eton mess was cream with a minute piece of meringue and two tiny pieces of pear, two figs and one pecan nut. A reduction of 10% was taken off the bill but the deserts should never have been served! How can you botch a crumble??? Just made us feel like tourists being ripped off. Even the waitress admitted the crumble was unacceptable. The couple sitting behind us waited an hour to be served.

We visited a couple of nights ago for a meal as a table of five. We ordered on the app and the food came out really quick. The food was nice as it usually is at the Steamer. Staff were friendly and bought treats over for our dog.

The Prawns in garlic butter were amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed them 🙂 The staff were also very friendly and attentive.

I would just like to say a massive Thankyou to the Landlords Andy and Nicola for the support in accomodating at short notice 2 lovely ladies who were staying in an air b n b above my shop which they had to vacate due to flooding.The landlords went above and beyond to support them and myself and to make us feel welcome and supported by our local pub ...THANKYOU for your kindness

This place has sooooo much potential, but the owners let it down. They've let it go to ruin and it's such a shame. The vibe is great but it desperately needs investment. No food either.

Booked for the Christmas Special & off the Menu too. All arrived in a timely manner. But we did have dietary requirements, of which every single one was meet. Although we reminded our waitress there was no need to, the chef/kitchen had that all under control. Have been here a few times, friendly service & good standard of food will encourage me back. Great place for a pint & something to eat, and room for groups. All of us in our group agreed, food was enjoyable, the selection of a generous bowl of vegetables was also served, no waiting for each other, nicely cooked.

Closed from early Nov to April more's the pity. Fabulous when it's open
