Friendly local pub with darts and regulars and good service. There are not many tables for eating at but we were comfortable there. I had liver and bacon with mash and vegetables and wife had steak and ale pie with vegetables and nice chips. The food was good. With a soft drink and a good pint the bill came to £35.00.

I ordered a large pastie which I paid £4.50 what I got was a small pastie which waisted terrible. How oggy can say they are the best pastie around I don't know they are rubbish. And should be ashamed selling small pastie as a large. You even need to clean up ur shop and stop ur staff from picking there nose wen serving.

We visited the Oxenham Arms twice over our week in Dartmoor. Both times the food was delicious and the staff friendly and inviting. On our visits we had the beef shin, mushroom linguine and pork belly and would happily recommend any one of them as a main course. They were all very tasty. The stand out though was the cheese souffle starter - absolutely delicious! We will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

A must for any walker/runner/cyclist on Drake’s trail. Dog friendly. Excellent selection of sweet & savoury treats including the legendary cinnamon swirls. Good choice of tea, coffee & hot chocolate up to 100%. Hot chocolate is served hot - none of this Health & Safety lukewarm & totally unsatisfying offering. Very popular - only drawback is there are no customer toilets.

The menu is very uninspiring and it’s exactly the same menu every time. They could do with changing it and putting on some more interesting dishes. No salad appeared with the sharing fish platter and all the fish was deep fried - a variety of cooking styles would have been better and the whitebait was unavailable. They refused to light a candle! Zero atmosphere

The Railway Inn is like no other public house! It is a happy place to be. The staff are wonderfully obliging, cheerful and very engaging. The bar area is cosy and offers many precious things; including real ale, fine wines and a wonderful selection of spirits. And, it's so good to hear the Devonshire accent amongst the chatter and laughter. The atmosphere is the most precious thing of all. Well of course there's a restaurant area, it's detached from the madding throng. A more sedate area. The food is superbly presented, hot and served in lickety-split time. Helpings are quite frankly too much for a wimp like me. And then came the dessert menu...Resistance was futile! Really impressive all round. So much so that I struggled to overcome the urge to leave a tip! Richard (Dick), Okehampton

Friendly service but the food itself wasn't the best. Stringy undercooked bacon, four tiny overcooked fried potatoes, far too many cheap beans,. The egg was nice and the sausage was ok. Expensive for what it was though and the noise of the fridge was so loud, maybe give the grid on the fan a clean as it was covered in fluff and dust.
