I attended a workshop in Beaminster and at lunch time and although we were given many options for food outlets, me and 2 other participants decided on the Trading Post and I am so pleased we did. All 3 of us had soup and it possibly was the most delicious soup I have ever had the pleasure to taste. I would go back to Beaminster just to go to this cafe. It was an absolute joy from start to finish, the service, the food and the venue were all delightful. Thank you Trading post I will be back x

Having found ourselves lucky enough to be back in Beaminster for a week, we knew our first stop had to be Dexters. We were welcomed back like old friends and as usual the food did not disappoint. So much so that we enjoyed 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 evening meals! Not sure I can pick a highlight but if forced it would have to be the fillet steak on our last night. Cooked to perfection and so flavoursome. If you are in the area and looking for somewhere to eat then I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Fab home cooked food at a very reasonable price with second to none service. Debbie, Paul, Kim and all the team - don’t stop what you are doing as you stand out in a very crowded market. We will be back and that’s a promise 😉 If for no other reason than we still need to try the very popular Sunday carvery.

Oh dear, we must have hit a bad day. We had chosen Brassica for a family get together lunch as we had read so many rave reviews. Three of us chose the pasta based autumn special, while the fourth wanted only a salad. The paste was very undercooked, and I do know the difference between al dente and being hardly able to get a fork into it and the whole dish tasting of raw flour. We pointed out the problem and the plates were returned to the kitchen. When they came back to the table the food was hotter but the pasta remained unchanged. One of the group was so hungry she ate it anyway, but the other two found it inedible. The salad was quite nice, but at £12 for a small bowl of dressed leaves with slices of orange and a few walnuts I thought it overpriced. The staff were very good and some money was taken off the bill for the uneaten food, but that was hardly the point, we had gone expecting a lovely lunch on one of the rare times we could all be together and instead left still hungry and deeply disappointed

What a delightful evening learning how to make a door wreath. A lovely welcome with snow suddenly falling over the entrance ! The wreath making demonstration was informal with everything supplied to make and design your own wreath after tucking into a scrummy snack menu and mulled wine finishing off the evening with a mince pie ! Just perfect !!!

A superb cafe with great food, we stopped on our way through & we weren't disappointed & would recommend & return. Coffee was great & we both had toasties, cheese /ham & goats cheese/red onion chutney, both delicious with coleslaw & side salad & the most delicious homemade salad dressing, I meant to ask what it was before I left but got distracted on the way out by the lovely shop at the front of the cafe! Highly recommend.

Landlord can put on the charm when he wants but I saw him make other customers feel awkward. Not a people person ..just a weird person. I'm local and tried it although friends had forewarned me. He wasn't rude to my wife and I..but it made for an unpleasant atmosphere.

Been here a few times now, once in the summer at night, once for a late morning coffee and cake and yesterday for lunch. Each time we have been we have had a warm welcome. The food has been really good at really reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
