The best restaurants serving British food in West Somerset South West

Nice country pub with food. The pate starter I had was small and basic, but in fairness very tasty. I had muscle linguine as a main that was served in a frightening hot bowl that continued to cook and dry out the food. The pasta was served with a heap of parmesan on the top which was not mentioned on the menu and made it very cheesy. Friendly service but the chef is best kept in the kitchen and not customer facing. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

We were looking for a light lunch as we intended to eat a main meal in the evening. Unusually we took the leap and climbed two flights of stairs to the delightful cafe on 2 nd floor overlooking the Parade The staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Two of the party had a variety of Ploughmans lunch the cheese was ample and the ham was thick gammon ham. I ate a smoked mackerel salad delicious. The fourth had a prawn sandwich with a glass of wine. Highly recommend for all.

Closes 2pm on a Saturday! If you arrive on the 13:50 steam train, you will miss it.

Dog and human friendly. Scones to die for and lots of delicious sweet and savoury options. Parking opposite side of bridge.

Superb meal, excellent and friendly service.

Sit and watch the trains with a superb piece of fruit cake

We went for Christmas lunch with friends. We had a great time, the pub was very festive and the tables laid out with decorations and crackers. All the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. Well what can I say about the food other than it was top notch everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Yorkshires were sublime!!!! Best ever. Order the cheeseboard only if you have good appetite fantastic selection of cheeses. Thank you for fantastic Christmas lunch.

A well nice cafe being going there a long time

We had another excellent meal at the ship, the team as always work hard to provide a warm and welcoming place to take a seat and enjoy the great food on offer, good selection of ales and everyone is treated as an equal.. we had the lamb rump and a venison burger both top class, had a sweet each which finished the meal nicely

Had a lovely meal. Lots of choice . I had a steak she had the mushroom bourgeon which was delicious. Great friendly staff, excellent value. Highly recommended.

Good place to go after a walk out. Superb carvery. And can't forget the the junket.... no.. look it up yourself....

A pleasant surprise. Very English. Steak & kidney pudding, hot stove etc.

Place seems a little crowded but other than that the food and drinks are fantastic
