The best restaurants serving British food in West Somerset South West

A huge thank you to Chris and Sarah and the staff for the warm and friendly hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding!

What a fabulous lunch. There were eight of us who ordered a variety of sandwiches, toasties and cream teas. Food was excellent and great value for money. Service was quick and friendly. People have written reviews complaining about the decor which is actually very tastefully done. Besides, with such great food in a beautiful setting why worry about the decor!

In Dunster for a week and we ate here on four occasions! Breakfast, lunch, tea and cakes were all delicious. Looking forward to eating here again on our next visit

We had an evening meal at the Valiant on Wednesday 11th December, we were glad to get a table as they had two groups in for Christmas party's. As always the ambiance was good and it was certainly a lively feel with the groups enjoying them selves which is how it should be, we had a steak sizzler and the homemade steak and ale pie both were excellent and plentiful, thank you for a very nice meal and continued hospitality

Third visit to this gem. Lovely friendly service, nice atmosphere and good menu. We opted for a ploughman's, a feast presented beautifully for under £7. Whats not to like

Was in Minehead for the Shiiine On festival and stroll up into the town on Sunday morning was well worth it to find this absolute gem of place. The breakfast baguette was superb, definitely an aid for the inevitable hangover from the night before. All freshly cooked and they do a lovely sausage roll and Cornish pasty too. See you again next year.

We had nice roast evening meals. Will visit again when next in Porlock. Cash only though, no cards. Recommended.

We ate here 3 times in the week, that shows how good it was, do not be put off by the appearance outside, could do with with a few baskets. Nice welcome by the barmen and locals. All the meals were very good, Exmoor burger I had twice, lasagne with the best garlic bread I have ever eaten and chips, chicken wrap, falafel wrap both with chips and scampi.

Staying at porlock weir..such a beautiful place. Had a coffee at this little cafe. .good size coffees .service very good. Didn't eat so can't comment on food

Good service. Nice breakfast bap. Cheesy chips needed more cheese. Pleasant location by the harbour.

A little underwhelming. Visited after a nice walk along Minehead beach. The service was very slow, although credit to the lady serving on the till who was very apologetic for this. I think they were running a little low on staff this day as there were a lot of uncleared tables, and the tables could have all done with a good wipe over. Coffee was pretty standard. I don’t think my husbands cappuccino was actually a cappuccino, and he didn’t end up drinking it. Food however was surprisingly delicious. We had two Breakfast Baps and they were lovely and tasty. Probably wouldn’t rush back, but a nice stop off after the beach.

I drank at the lion inn for a couple of years and was constantly harassed by the local idiot. One evening the local idiot threatened and attacked me as l tried to leave,, avoid this pub at all costs !

An lovely tea Garden and great for a ploughman's lunch. The staff are very pleasant and the service and quality of the food is excellent.

Ten years ago I wrote a 5* review of my experience here, based on perceived good value for a vegan pasty. Recently I bought the same product and paid more than double what I did ten years ago. This is no longer good value and I will never buy another Oggy Oggy pasty. It IS, after all, a few veg baked in a bit of pastry - it's not Cordon Bleu!
