The best restaurants serving British food in Kingston upon Hull, City of Yorkshire and The Humber

Popped in for the first time, great service, fantastic portion in a large breakfast, and another time of my visit, quiet.

As a vegan, this is not a place that I would recommend to eat. There was a big group of 15 of us, we had paid a deposit and pre ordered food, well in advance and as requested. Upon our arrival, we were told that the table had been cancelled due to no deposit being paid and our pre-orders not being received. This was then fixed when the person who had booked the table arrived and the “miscommunication” was fixed - the email thread being shown to the staff showing that all the procedure had been followed. We sat down, ordered drinks, I had ordered a 0% alcohol beer (limited options) and was served an alcoholic beer instead. Starters arrived with no problem. The mains, as stated previously were pre-ordered, everyone’s mains came out fine. The two vegan mains that were pre-ordered we were then told weren’t vegan, despite prior communication. We were offered an aubergine dish that they weren’t sure was vegan; so we declined for obvious reasons and decided to go without food. The options in this restaurant were limited already in terms of vegan options and we had decided at that point to just eat at home. The waiting staff had then confirmed that the aubergine dish was vegan and we ‘might as well have it as it’s free’. This dish was shared between two of us. Upon receiving the bill, the person who had booked the meal spoke to the management staff around the various other issues they had encountered throughout - sides being wrong, sauces and food were inedible and flavourless. Not to mention that the two cauliflower steaks that weren’t vegan were added onto the bill and also the aubergine dish that we were informed was free. When the person from our party spoke to the “manager” of this establishment, he was met with an unbelievably rude, arrogant and aggressive person who accepted no responsibility, no apology and not even an ounce of remorse. Safe to say, with a party of 15, this is a tale we will regale to a lot of family members, colleagues, peers and the vegan community.

No existe un protocolo para las quejas sobre alimentos. Después de hablar con el gerente, simplemente dijo que el chef dice que no hay nada malo en ello, así que no puede hacer nada al respecto, a la gente le gustan las cosas cocinadas de manera diferente. ¡Dudo que alguien quiera más pescado cocido! ¿Qué pasa cuando reciben una queja? Ella me dijo que normalmente no tenemos ninguno. Wow me sorprendió totalmente como estoy seguro Linda, que incluso el Ritz recibe quejas tan sombreros de este lugar particularmente increíble para mi queja siendo la primera vez 👏 mi madre viene aquí bastante a menudo, pero creo que vamos a tomar nuestras oportunidades en el Ritz 😃

We had a family get together and booked an early Christmas lunch. The food was fantastic , everything was cooked beautifully couldn't fault anything. Thank you

A nice local place for lunch or a quick drink. There's always plenty of seating and the staff are friendly. The toilets are clean and there's also plenty of tables outside for that summertime stop off.

Meal was burnt. Disgusting 😝 the staff was laughing at me as well. Taking the Mick underhanded avoid avoid avoid minus*

Habíamos reservado una comida de Navidad para 6 a £ 40 por persona, así que había una expectativa de la mesa para ser vestido, pero se parecía a cualquier otra época del año. Dos mesas grandes fueron empujadas juntas pero estaban a diferentes alturas creando una cresta en el medio. Sin galletas saladas, tuvimos que pedirlas y nos dijeron que se habían olvidado de ponerlas sobre la mesa. Las servilletas eran negras y tendidas planas entre cubiertos, rojos o verdes habrían sido más festivas, si se hubieran doblado y abanicado para cada escenario habrían parecido como si alguien hubiera hecho el esfuerzo. No hay agua para la mesa. Teníamos algunos comedores de carne y vegetarianos en la fiesta. Todos los entrantes estaban sabrosos y bien presentados, las pakoras de camote eran excelentes. La cena de asado de Navidad se limitó a dos papas asadas y una montaña de puré, algunos asados fueron duros. El relleno se presentaba inusualmente como un disco aplanado que no era crujiente y era un poco extraño. Pero la carne estaba bien cocida y sabrosa. Los vegetarianos tenían vegetarianos wellington, la única verdura que se encontraba dentro de la corteza de pastelería eran las zanahorias combinadas con arroz y nueces, pero sabía bien. Vino con unas patatas asadas y un bote de salsa. Esto no vino con brócoli, chirivías asadas, brotes u otra verdura festiva como sería habitual para una cena de Navidad y sin opción de comer verdura adicional. El salmón Teriyaki era muy sabroso. Los desiertos estaban bien presentados, el sorbete de champán era particularmente bueno. La mesa estaba reservada para dos horas, y nos recordaron tres veces que la mesa era necesaria para las 8 pm unos buenos 25 minutos antes de las 8 pm, esto nos hizo sentir apurados y esto no terminó la comida de forma natural. No teníamos más bebidas o café para redondear la comida. La opinión del grupo era que la mesa debería haber sido vestida antes de llegar y mejor, no se sentía xmassy. Se necesitan ajustes en las comidas principales para mejorar. El servicio era promedio, nada especial. En general pensamos que era caro para lo que era y es poco probable que volviéramos a reservar una fiesta. Sin embargo, en una noche ordinaria la comida es buena tiene un precio apropiado.

0 star for food as we only went in for a drink and not sure if they serve. Staff nice and friendly. Lovely historic pub.

It seems the easy order online app is enforced more than people taking your order, I have asked twice if someone can take my food order in person and staff generally just tell you to use the app and walk off. I'm not known for using technology at the best of times, this being said I tried to order three sausages, three strips of bacon, three hash browns and a slice of black puddling! but my order came out with two sausages, two pieces of bacon swimming in fat, bubble and squeak and baked beans a slice of toast! I asked the young lad who brought the order and he kind of snapped at me. My partner told me to keep quiet and just eat what was in front of me, sadly hours later I was being sick and bring up the sausages I think they weren't cooked fully, and I don't think the toast was gluten free. Sadly they have lost of customer

Great food, great drinks and excellent service. Staff are friendly and efficient. Will come again and would highly recommend
