The best restaurants serving British food in England

Amazing food, we had the lunch tasting and wine pairing which we thought was excellent value. Lovely! Would highly recommend.

Our first visit to Lumiere and the food was superb, with a delicate blend of flavours. We particularly enjoyed the smoked eel and the duck and the presentation of every course was beautifully executed. Unfortunately however, the ambience and service were all somewhat underwhelming. Granted, the evening didn’t start well. Having said that I would probably order a G&T at some point, it was a surprise when one arrived without asking which gin I would like. I politely declined and said that I preferred a flavoured one, expecting that the drinks menu, given to the adjacent table would be offered. Instead a second G&T was served, again without explaining the varieties available. It seems that the message given to the gentleman on bar service was that I asked for a fruit based gin, not flavoured as I had requested, so he chose the only fruit based one served. This seemed to set the tone for the evening, where the service was friendly and polite but not as polished as in other Michelin starred restaurants we have visited.

This is a very lovely restaurant with a well thought out seasonal menu. The food is delicious, beautifully cooked and presented. Staff are attentive and knowledgeable. Looking forward to my next visit

No estoy seguro de si podemos contar con nosotros mismos como regulares, pero hemos hecho visitas anuales desde hace unos diez años y siempre nos vamos deseando poder volver antes de nuestra próxima visita anual prevista a Cornualles. Siempre una parte muy esperada e integral de nuestros planes. ¡Basta de nosotros! El risotto de cangrejo fue una delicia absoluta. Sabores bellamente presentados y perfectamente equilibrados. Mi venado se derritió en la boca y sin fallas en la preparación - cocinado exactamente según las especificaciones (como se discutió con Richard al ordenar). Mi otra mitad estaba encantada con su plato de estragón de pollo. Los tamaños de las porciones son adecuados para el apetito más abundante. Diversión bouche y postres también excelente. Un bientot.

Absolutely 5 star food and service. Couldn’t fault anything. Really enjoyed our experience. If I was forced to choose a favourite course it would be the scallop, my husbands was the Falliw Deer but I enjoyed every last morsel and if I couldve licked the plate I would have!! Special mention to our waitress, can’t remember her name sorry, she had blonde hair x

Firstly apologies to Chef Tom for taking so long to write this review, Can't believe I haven't done it sooner. I've been twice to this restaurant, both occasions on my own. Yes, I was inspired by Great British Menu to come. I had the tasting menu on each occasion, along with copious non-alcoholic cocktails, just so I could try them all. I had the absolute best time. The food was stunning. I got a few odd looks from the other diners who noticed I was by myself, but that was a deliberate choice I made both times as I was staying nearby on a 'retreat'. The second time I went, they remembered I'd been from the year before which was very sweet of them, but then again maybe they don't get many solo diners up from London :-) Well guess what guys? I reckon you'll be seeing me again, as I love your restaurant, the food, the ambience, location, everything!

Christmas Eve dinner, becoming a tradition grest food and service whenever we visit

The best dining out experience you can have. Food fabulous, whatever you choose. Sunday lunch is so good, you need a big appetite. Liam and his team give an excellent service. Definitely the best restaurant in North Devon.
