The best restaurants serving British food in England

We went here for Christmas eve, but I have eaten here before. It is by far the best fish restaurant I have been to and would definitely recommend it.

We booked for the New Years Eve gala dinner as we were staying nearby (although not in the hotel). The service was perfect - the manager Neil was charming and all his team did an amazing job on the night. We couldn't fault a single thing. The food - and food choices - were very good, well presented and many items were local. The DJ was good - I love a good dance - and the whole atmosphere was festive. I don't often write reviews but we had such a great time and were so impressed by the evening, I wanted to let people know. The hotel is well places, great views and a great atmosphere. We look forward to visiting on a sunny day in future!

A group of us visited during the day for coffee and again in the evening for dinner. All our needs were catered for and the most difficult thing was deciding what to order as everything sounded delicious. The food did not disappoint; it was good quality and freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and attentive at all times without being intrusive. Excellent place to eat and would highly recommend.

Food was lovely, a warm and welcoming atmosphere making you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in. Would definitely recommend it. Very reasonably priced.

We had a short b and b break from their half price pre-Christmas offer. The location is beautiful, with easy access to some wonderful walks.

Visited this lovely pub 4 times since being on holiday in the area! Great pub food and atmosphere!! Would highly recommend 10 out of 10 for service 😊

Today we had the most amazing festive afternoon tea a special treat ,staff were lovely very helpful and friendly loved every minute

I've been looking for independent cafes in Reading to visit when I pop into the office and The Shed was recommended by a colleague. Lots of interesting food options - I went for a Caramel Latte their Top Toastie which is chorizo, shredded chicken, jalapeno, red onion, sundried tomato puree and cheddar - its was delicious and will definitely get again! The staff were really friendly and can't wait to try more on the menu.

Good place as always! Nandos is always a nice restraunt to eat at. Their grilled food is top-notch. Isn't that pricey as well!

NOW PERMANENTLY CLOSED :-( The Plough at Rede is one of Suffolks best kept secrets. A thatched pub with oak beams, an open fire, all tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Rede. Stunning location, fabulous atmosphere with a warm welcome and the best food for miles around. Brian and Joyce have been running the Plough for over 30 years with customers returning time and time again. Ide give 100 stars if I could.

Great food, great service. It says it all that the only negative review is from someone who went to The Piggery to eat beef! Go figure… Best eatery in Sussex, probably in the UK!

Stopped on a cycle ride for a late breakfast and it was tremendous. Really good ingredients and a very fair price. Very friendly place too
