Walked into this little gem on a cold Tuesday afternoon having just cycled from North Berwick. I was absolutely starving! Ordered a panini and swapped out the salad and crisps for chips. Food was excellent. Service 10/10. They had just cleaned the back room as were closing soon but sat us no problem. Even got a few more chips (which were amazing btw) as said was so hungry. Wife had panini as well. Will defo be back. Love the open fire. Thanks. 👏

My wife and I celebrated our silver wedding in the summer and a friend bought us a gift card with lunch for 2. The excellent parts: The scenery, the drive along the loch side, the location - simply gorgeous looking out of the window whilst eating. The service. Highly relaxed and informal. Lunch was 2 hours. The Italian waiter was friendly and professional. The food was exquisite. Home baked bread with nasturtium seeded salt in the butter. I had duck, my wife had mackerel to start. Mains were pork for my wife and monkfish for me. Desert was a lick the plate clean chocolate cremeux for me and cheeses for her. The not so excellent parts; Nothing. At all. Fine dining of this quality with cookery skills like this and these flavours to luxuriate in, in this gorgeous setting… for £35 each??? I’ve paid double that in Edinburgh.

I stumbled in here on day 4 of my West Highland Way walk nursing an injury and it couldn’t have been more fantastic. Had a much needed breakfast and coffee, and a really good chat with the girl at the bar (can’t believe I didn’t catch her name as we spoke for ages). Was really lovely and welcoming - can be isolating doing a long distance hike at a quiet time of the year, so this was really welcome. She gave me great advice both in terms of pushing on with the hike but also transport links if I couldn’t manage it. Could not recommend enough - I will definitely be staying here in the Spring when I try the WHW again - hopefully this time with a less dodgy knee!

While wandering through Aberfoyle came across this little butchers. Glad we did, the Roll and sausage/ black pudding doubler was amazing, great value for £5 my son had the Steak roll also delicious. No hesitation in recommending this establishment. A wee day out, you have to pop in.

Needed to kill an hour in Aberfoyle and what better way then a mid morning coffee and sausage roll. I needed a dog friendly and Internet provided cafe, the former seeming in short supply in this town. Station Cafe fitted the bill and , although only some seats are 'dog friendly', I can see why: others would have the pooch impeding servers. You can order via the QR code, but would have been helpful to add the server is the BT Net site, not 'Station Cafe.' Obviously the lorne sausage is home made and exactly fits the bap - nicely done in a toasted bun. Coffee not so good: I asked for a large two-shot, but I think it's a one size fits all and the small cup contained weak and quite bitter coffee.

Stopped in for a pitstop cuppa, soup and lovely hot apple crumble on a Sunday evening. Welcoming staff. Bar service. Food was quick and decent and well presented. Bit chilly by the window snug we sat in on a December evening but it was comfortable enough and their Christmas decorations, background music etc made a lovely atmosphere.

We stopped early for breakfast driving to the Glencoe Mountains. Our food (breakfast egg and sausage ciabatta) was good, but nothing special. It was warm on a cold day; so, that itself was appreciated. It's an order at the counter service and they bring it out to the table. They were efficient, and it wasn't crowded, as we were there around 8:00. The store's prices for goods looked similar, if not a little higher than other stores like Tesco.

Popped in on a Sunday early afternoon for some lunch with 3 children. We seated ourselves pretty quickly but had to ask for kids menus which took a while for the staff to find. Ordered at the bar for drinks, asked to have one of the kids meal deal drinks as part of the order and told had to order that kids meal now as well. So we placed the order for 3 kids meals (only one to include a drink), 3 coffees, 2 irn bru and a lemonade. £47!!! I think there may be a 10% service charge added, not sure as partner paid and didn't see receipt but seemed very expensive. Anyway we later ordered the adult meals and food came out relatively quickly. However it was a Sunday so we ordered 4 roast dinners, someone wanted steak but that was off apparently. When asked if we wanted anything else, I asked for apple sauce for the pork. Sorry we don't have that I was told. Seriously who serves pork without apple sauce being available? I mean they called it roast pork but it was essentially a pork loin steak with some new potatoes that were dehydrated along with some parsnips and carrots, typical tasteless over sized Yorkshire pudding and some watery oily brown liquid that I guess constitued gravy. I really wouldn't recommend this, I usually finish meals out and I really couldn't with this, partly the portion was mainly stodge and also because it just wasn't great. A bit of quantity over quality for the whole meal. The staff were OK, though not the service you would expect from such a known pub. It's overpriced and staff are just a bit laid back. I think they mean welll but definite lack of direction and no leadership. I won't return for food or probably even a drink. Being quite remote there probably won't be any need to - only been twice (once just for drinks) and only because we had visitors up from down south. With a decent menu and soe enthusiastic staff it could be great. You can't reserve a table and I think this is because they don't really want to do the decent meal out service so maybe just go for drinks, dissapointing.

We decided to go for a walk up in Aberfoyle and went here for some lunch. We were warmly welcomed, and our order was taken promptly. Food was delicious (burger and macaroni) Staff were fantastic. Only 2 working when every table was full. They did great! They welcomed our wee soggy wet dog in (even though he barked.. sorry about that!) Would definitely recommend and come back. This is a wee homely pubgrub place and it's right up our street.
