The best restaurants serving French food in Windsor and Maidenhead South East

Lively locaton but setting of the tables is a big let down. I hate looking at people eating while sharing the experience with other person I want to talk to while eating. Unfortunately I don’t feel comfortable turning my head 45 degrees each time I communicate with someone. Also, staff did look quite a lot at us while eating which made eating quite unpleasant. Food wise, nice food. Unfortunately salmon and lamb overcooked. Sweetbreads didn’t find it particularly tasty. I wouldn’t go back based on the price unfortunately.

Wow...wow...wow! I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful restaurant. They were able to squeeze us in for my wife's 50th birthday and we were treated like royalty. From the moment we walked through the door to second we left over 3 hours later we were thoroughly spolit! The staff were so friendly and the restaurant was buzzing with couples and small groups just before Christmas. The food was simply fantastic and decent wine list too. Sumptuous starters and then we both had fillet steak with peppercorn sauce and roquefort which was expertly cooked. The finale of baked alaska and chocolate fondant arrived with the whole restaurant singing happy birthday to my wife. Genuinely this was one of the best meals I have ever eaten in 50 years. Utterly brilliant evening...you must find time to get to this gem where, for a few hours, you are made to feel fantastic! Thank you to everyone at A La Russe...we will back!

Lovely New Year’s Day breakfast at cote! Service was fast with a lovely river view table. All 8 of us had the breakfast deal and the amount of food and drink was spot on. Brilliant way to start the year!

Bit of a shame this as it’s a nice restaurant. The substantial slow-roasted lamb shoulder tasted quite incredible, but the dish lacked the green peas which were on the menu. Accepted an offer of a broccoli side as recompense, but they didn’t have any in stock: “One of those weeks!” Staff were pleasant and apologetic but the mere 10% reduction (£2.70) on the price of the item for the debacle seemed rather stingy. Should be overly generous for the sake of a few quid more on these rare occasions.

Avoid at all cost, cafe rouge took my money and booking for an afternoon tea but the Windsor restaurant is closed and they won’t refund my money, booked via Buyagift and only after a complaint was my money refunded by buyagift, have complained to cafe rouge press office three times and no response very poor experience. Be advised that cafe rouge are still taking bookings but they have closed over twelve restaurants and still taking reservations for the closed ones.

Real shame that the creperie club on corner of grove road closed some time ago… the building still adornes the faux flowers above
