We always walk past this place and always empty or at least ever time we passed it. That was the main reason we didn’t try it being a chef myself. Then we decided to order a delivery. The price was responsible until you see what you get for your money. The taste is bland on all the items we ordered! Being local myself I did give them the benefit of the doubt but they proved why they are so quiet. Few yards away there are two Indian restaurant both are not excellent far from but much better than this place. Amazed how it’s still open. And the five star ratings? Did you have proper Indian foods?

The exterior is bleak and odd, almost like it doesn’t want custom. After getting inside we were sat at a table not far from a couple with their loud toddler frequently shouting. Perhaps nothing the restaurant could do about that. Maybe. We ordered the £5.50 papad, and received a small metal tray with isolated bits of poppadom (barely 2 proper ones) and a tiny bowl of mango chutney. Because my partner had stated a gluten intolerance apparently the yoghurt wouldn’t be supplied to me who doesn’t have that. Regardless, a tiny amount if mango chutney and even a yoghurt dip simply isn’t good enough. No onion or chilli dip at all. I had ordered a lager and that arrived, then ten minutes later my partner’s glass of wine still hadn’t arrived and with no word on it. I followed it up with a server. He returned to a table near ours with glasses of water and still no wine. I asked again to bring it now. Then the manager I suppose turned up with the wine. He made a paltry excuse about the cork being stuck in the bottle and couldn’t care less about failing to even tell us about a delay. The real reason was that the order of a glass of wine hadn’t been taken. I also mentioned the appalling excuse for poppadoms. He would take what I said “on board”. He clearly couldn’t give a toss and I told him so. Appalling. We had also ordered the prawn curry and a beef curry (different names). They were admittedly very good. The chefs can cook, clearly. It’s a shame the management is so shoddy. When the bill arrived the drinks had been removed from the bill, which is a decent response and an implicit acceptance of poor service. It’s a shame it wasn’t a genuine explicit acceptance. We won’t go back.

We had a family meal of 7. Us oldies had been there a couple of times before and recommended it to our family children and partners. It did not disappoint! Very good service and the food so good! We all had the sea bass which is our favourite here. We will be returning next time we are in London. As for the poppadums and wonderful chutneys to start, best ever!
