Volveremos.

The ‘gimmicky’ vibe of Mowgli doesn’t cover up the poor excuse of a restaurant here. The staff are under trained and lack knowledge of the food and concept other than a scripted verse on the charity supported by the Company. The food is bland and the service poor. If there was a league table for ‘shoddy’ service Mowgli would be at the top of it. We opted for the Christmas menu at £35 a head. Unfortunately, a lack of explanation led to ALL the portions being delivered together rather like a full Greek Meze instead of a ‘slowly slowly’ approach. The staff didn’t actually know what was being presented and when questioned, a ‘shrug of the shoulders’ is NOT the answer. I don’t even think they know where India is - never again!

Delivery took a lot longer than stated (nearly an hour late) When we rang to chase it the lady on the telephone didn’t even no where it was but eventually told us it was out for delivery. My mum ordered tandoori mixed grill which she said was very dry and luke warm. Curry was nice though.

Ordered a takeaway through just eat 2 years ago which arrived so late it was almost cold. Decided to give them a second chance today. Ordered through just eat at 6pm. Given a latest delivery time of 7.05 pm. By 7.20 no show. Rang them. Driver hadn't turned up. Chef was out delivering and assured us it was on its way.. 8 pm came around, rang again. They hadn't even started to cook ours! But were prepared to cook it now! Forget it. We had ordered food for our 2 grandchildren who had now eaten what we could rustle up as it was past their bedtime! Our son was over from Sweden, going home tomorrow and looking to enjoy a curry which they can't get locally there. Disgusting service. They don't deserve custom. They won't get a third chance. They didn't even have the courtesy to ring us. Just left us sitting here waiting!!!!

Been here several times, and is no secret that I have for a long time, stated this to be the best restaurant in the world! Food is always top notch, service is always spot on and as always did not disappoint. Also Saffron offers a little bit of sanity in a mad world right now, with minimal covid nonsensing, the restaurant doing what it has to by law, but no stupidity and silly stickers, just common sense and letting people enjoy themselves. Saffron Lounge excels in the delicious food and the dining experience.

Very fast delivery, was delivered 20 mins after ordered via deliveroo, which is why I was surprised that it was just warmish. Curry could have been hotter. I ordered medium strength but was bland. Naan and chapatis very doughy. I will order again, but think things could be fresher.

Many will have seen the demise of the Spice of South India in Princes Ave. as a pandemic tragedy. Mourning its passing I wondered whether we would ever be able to get a tasty Marsala Dosa locally. We visited the new site in Kingston Road last evening unaware of the relationship with our lost friend. We weren't even sure that it was more than a takeaway. it was a smaller version of the original, with the menus from Princes Ave and Lion beer. I enjoyed a Mysore Marsal Dosa, washed down with a Lion stout. The Phoenix rising.
