My Daughter going back a while did a Work Placement Here which was organised by "Watford College".Usual story They take on Young People trying to make out to People and the College that They are doing a good thing when Infact It Is Just taking Young People on through the "College" for free unpaid Work.The way the Two Owner's spoke and treated My Daughter was absolutely awful.When She reported It back to the" College" They were not really Interested and said for My Daughter to see It thorough probably because They know the will be sending the Next Student There!

This was our first visit to Darcy’s after moving to the area. We spent last weekend in Spain and it’s fair to say the paella we had tonight was far nicer than any we had last week. We also had chorizo & squid of the tapas menu, followed by churros & red velvet cake for dessert. All truly delicious. Staff are super friendly too! We will definitely be coming again soon

We arrived an hour earlier than our reservation, and they graciously accommodated us without a fuss – a gesture that immediately set the tone for a wonderful experience. The wine selection was superb, and the food was absolutely delightful. The butternut squash and trout starters were bursting with flavor, while the Sunday pork roast and free-range sausages were cooked to perfection. The bubble and squeak was a standout – hearty, comforting, and beautifully executed. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and a joy to savor. This isn’t just a pub; it’s an elevated dining experience wrapped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The absence of a TV was a refreshing change, allowing us to truly connect with friends and catch up without distractions. The service was impeccable, with a friendly and attentive team that made us feel well cared for throughout. Visiting the Alford Arms is always a special treat. It’s a place we’ll continue to cherish for its fantastic food, great service, and sophisticated yet cozy charm. Highly recommend!

Highly recommended!!! Lovely garden with picnic tables, friendly stuff, nice coffee, beautiful goats... It's the best place to relax. We visited this place Sunday it was quite busy, but still nice and quiet, we had a really good time there! You can also feed the goats for 50p, you can have a coffee, eat a snack and relax. There's a small chemical toilet, pretty clean and tidy. I really appreciated the fact that they answered back to my email when i lost my wallet, thank you guys, i've found it. Take a break from your journey and visit them!

I visited this charming coffee shop for a quick breakfast, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The latte was smooth and creamy, with just the right balance of espresso and milk, though I’d have preferred it a tad stronger. The almond milk option was a nice touch for those looking for dairy-free alternatives. I paired my drink with a perfectly cooked poached egg on toast, which was fresh and satisfying. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting, with friendly service to match. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was the slight delay in service. Nonetheless, a lovely spot for a light breakfast and coffee!

No hearing, no fire and half the people still have their coats, as do we ! It's 17 degrees and that's cold inside.... It's cold outside ! Asked about the fire and staff didn't seem interested!! Also no lights in one of pub... looks pokey and dingy .... Shame because really nice pub inside

Brilliant Sunday roast lunch. Staff very helpful polite and accomodating. Will recommend and, go again.

Good pizza , just hard to work out when the are doing food or not ?

We entered the store today and asked for two bagels we were told by the man in the video that he wasn’t serving and that we should ask one of his colleagues. He clearly did not want to serve us a white woman and an Asian man entered and he served them both from the bakery section, which is next to the bagels. This man did not want to serve us based on whatever prejudices he had but chose to serve other people do not want to come here again if people are not treated the same.

The town center used to be vibrant and enjoyable, but sadly, it’s gone downhill over the years. I personally blame the decline on decisions made by those who voted Labour.

Great spot, not the cheapest but value wise, excellent. Christmas meal for a dozen of us, universal praise, a couple of the deserts were super sweet, otherwise would be full marks
