Great cakes, service average, but the coffees are poor. I have been a few times and each time the coffee is not great and i say that i wont have a coffee next time.. but each time i try hoping that a) they have a new range of beans, or b) the server would have changed and be better at making coffee. Flat white was too hot (milk burnt) and so the coffee tasted bitter. Other halfs Oat milk was poor... seemed like they used skimmed oat milk rather than barista oat milk which froffs up much better for lattes etc. Probably wont come back for drinks again.. shame..the nursery is great!

I have been here a number of times, but not for a while. Under new management. I had a chicken, pesto and mozzarella panini. This was served with a side salad, homemade coleslaw and some crisps. My mum had a tuna mayo and cucumber sandwich also served with a side salad, coleslaw and crisps. Both plates of food came up well presented .. The 2 lady’s that are running the cafe now are friendly and welcoming.. Good service, and nice food so will definitely recommend to friends, and we will definitely be going back ...

Have Been Here Quite A Few Times For Breakfast (I like the Breakfast bap) with my wife, and weather permitting, we like to sit outside, went today with my wife, two daughters and our 2year old Grandson, and today was no different, great Breakfast and service, however, don't know why,but looking around, there didn't seem to be any "table clearing", and three maybe 4 staff inside chatting away when going to pay, this observation doesn't in anyway from our enjoyment here, but I think this issue needs to be addressed, for example, a couple who were there before us,finished and when we got up to go,40-50 minutes later,Their table hadn't been cleared, just a small point, for the sake of the excellent potash tea room, (FaceofRayleigh)

Such a great local pub. Facilities are very comfortable and the bar is stocked full of a range of alcoholic beverages to suit all palates. The staff are super friendly and always have a smile on their face. The pub also offers live music which never fails to entertain. I would fully recommend this pub to solo drinkers, couples and families. No one is too young or too old to make a visit to The Half Moon. Check it out!

A great plate full for the money, choose your own breakfast for 75p per item or stick to the set plates. Whatever you choose you shouldn't be disappointed. Food was all cooked fresh so there was a bit of a wait but it was piping hot when it did turn up. Two breakfasts a Mug of coffee and a hot chocolate (with cream and marshmallow) came to just over £15. Very friendly staff with a liking for country and western on the Alexa, but who doesn't like a bit of Johnny Cash. We will definitely be back. Oh and at last a cafe that does black pudding, the only thing missing from the menu is bubble and squeak, but you can't have everything.

We booked for Boxing Day and everything was all ready and waiting on arrival and was advised there had been a slight accident with a pudding but we were offered alternatives and this was sorted straight away. The staff were all very polite and helpful and all the food was brought out on time and no complaints. We do this every year with our family at the Anne Boylen and we are never disappointed

Last night was my second visit to The Punch Bowl and on both occasions the meal, service and atmosphere have been bloody amazing. The drive out to the pub itself takes you through some of the more rural parts of Essex. It’s remote enough to make you wonder whether you’ll actually ever arrive but close enough to surrounding towns to make it well worth the visit (just 25 minutes from where we are in Leigh). You’re greeted by the friendliest staff you could hope to meet and are immediately made to feel at home before being taken to your table and looked after the entire time. If cosy, traditional country pub is your vibe you can’t get much better and after a couple of hours sat down with friends, eating amazing food and drinking great wine it’s incredibly hard to leave. It’s worth mentioning that The Punch Bowl do NOT automatically add a service charge to their bills and they also only accept tips in cash so take some with you because you’ll be kicking yourself if you leave without rewarding the service. The waiting staff are out of this world 😊

Didn't have food, hence no rating. Haven't been to Rayleigh for some time, but had the pleasure of spending just over an hour today there at lunch time. What a proper pub. All ages represented and a warm welcome from the excellent bar staff. Friendly atmosphere and enjoyed our Guinness and Bacardi / diet cokes sat where the 2 bar areas meet. Wish we lived nearer and best wishes. Cliff & Lauraine.

After many years of amateur, incompetent and unfortunate landlords, crushed by a greedy and unbending national pub chain, this failed village pub has finally closed down. It's now shuttered-up, awaiting redevelopment.
