Great dog friendly pub. Ideal if you are staying at the nearby Travelodge with a canine companion. We had a really good breakfast here. Many thanks to the waitress who took the picture of us and the dog in front of Santa's chair and the Christmas tree.

I booked a table a the George in October for Xmas eve for 14 people, I rang late December to double check the booking only to be told the booking wasn’t in her book and I should of spoken to a certain member of staff to book it….. as if that was my fault and I of should know this, massive let down! I will not be returning!!!

Now the Bella Chimes. The food is good but the place is run worse than Fawlty Towers. There were 6 of us celebrating my birthday on a Friday night. My wife booked the table via their website which states that the table is booked for 1.5hrs. The confirmation states the table is booked for 2.5hrs. When she checked, the table is actually booked for 2 hrs. That should have given us a clue. We were booking a taxi so it's good to know. We were put on a table next to the main door which we were not happy about as people were coming in and out constantly. They wrote us off at that point. The tables were so close together that the waitress struggled to get through. There were not enough menus to go around and no jugs available for water albeit they did provide pints of water. Eventually, our drinks order was taken and we gave the food order at the same time. It was about 1hr before the starters arrived. No reason for the delay was offered. To be fair, the Maitre D' did offer the drinks free of charge due to the wait and the starters were lovely. It took a lot longer for the mains to arrive. Nobody had checked on us in the meantime, nobody came to see if we needed more drinks. 5 of the 6 mains arrived. The waitress said she would check on the missing meal. She never returned. Eventually the missing food arrived with the Maitre D' some time afterwards. Two of the original 5 dishes were only warm. They had obviously been sitting in the kitchen for a while and my order had either been missed or messed up. Again to be fair, the food was lovely. As nobody offered dessert menus, we had had enough by this point and asked for the bill. When we asked for it to be split we were told the till couldn't cope with splitting the bill. It is sad as the food is nice. If they had stuck to the 2hrs we wouldn't have barely eaten at all within the time. The Maitre D' needs to step up and manage the restaurant instead of being a waiter. They need to reduce the number of tables and the table near the door should be restricted to two people at most or supply blankets! It was chaos. Never going back.

I called in today mid afternoon to get 2 sausage rolls for my granddaughter for later. I was absolutely dumbfounded to be charged £2.80 each roll. I questioned this cost 3 times only to be told yes. If I had somewhere else to go, I would have, so reluctantly paid up. I will never go there again for anything. This seems to be a blatent example of rip off profiteering, totally unjustified. I have given only one star for each category only because the sausage rolls were there.if I could have scored less I woul have done so, shame on you Devonshire bakery.
