Was in Whitstable for the day and we stumbled across this place for lunch. I had the pulled pork sandwich which came with crisps and salad. The pork was tasty and the bread was lovely! I also did a takeaway with the orange and chocolate cake, that was amazing! I wish I lived nearer so that I could go back again!

I know it’s just a minute away from the sea front and does not have a sea view, but if you want to get a great cup of tea or coffee in a real tea cup with a saucer, (unlike M&S), and a piece of cake in perfect surroundings then this has to be the place. A clean, modern, niche cafe with inside and outside seating and right next to Tankertons lovely selection of independent shops.

My girlfriend reported that her ice cream was excellent, and she knows her ice creams!

Second time to panera's both times were awful a bowl of soup was only filled halfway frist time, 2nd was mac and cheese halfway, both charged bowls prices.(of course) When I called to tell them the soup was bad/salty/ thick and gross, maybe you should ask chefs to add water/chicken broth to it. her answer was priceless... We are not aloud to fix it, we have to use what they send us? When the bad ,thick, salty soup is gone we will open a new one. However I will pass this to corporate. Tell corporate to eat their own soup( my advice don't use salt or spoon, fork works better. God help customer!!! HIRE A CHEF!! Restaurants and cable are optional first to be cut out of budgets

I’ve previously reviewed and rated highly the Hotel Continental in Whitstable. This time we used their restaurant and bar. It was excellent - terrific local oysters, burrata, a ploughman’s smoked salmon and moules marinières. With a bottle of Cortefresia Pinot Grigio and two glasses of red, the bill came to £142.45 for three. Being fogeys, we could have done without the live music, which they occasionally feature. But other people seemed to enjoy it.

My advice to anyone thinking of going to this tearoom is Do Not! I have been going to this restaurant regularly for a long time. The staff were always polite and a credit to their employer. I visited about 3 weeks ago but will definitely not be going back again. The lady who served me was extremely rude. The tables in the Orangery (where everyone likes to sit) were laid out for afternoon tea. This was 10.30 in the morning! The previous staff would put a time on the tables from when these were reserved, meaning that if you left prior to this you were able to sit there. When we arrived there were only 3 tables that you could sit at and needless to say no-one arrived to sit at the reserved ones. I am also aware that it was the same for the afternoon. e.g Tables were still laid out but not occupied! It is such a shame when something goes down hill to this degree as this is a beautiful setting.

The service is sweet but but the ice cream scoops are really mean. There is a choice of ice cream shops in the area so management needs to decide if they want repeat business or not.
