A lovely cafe and an enjoyable breakfast. I had the Welsh Rarebit toastie which was on the specials board which was very tasty. If you have a dog, be prepared to sit in the “outside” area which is covered and does have heaters, but is still slightly chilly in the winter months.

Wonderfully cosy place, garden has cosy corners to sit and the main room has a log fire ( in the winter). All home made food, very good quality, healthy savoury options. The cakes (I’m not a cake eater) looked delicious and home made.

Found this place online after looking for a nice traditional pub that did some good hearty food and we got exact that. Lovely food, great atmosphere and extremely friendly staff! We had a long journey home ahead of us so it set us up nicely, would definitely recommend if you’re passing by!

The food and service was excellent as usual with a lovely buzz to the gallery area. Lunch was served on hot plates which makes the dish remain hot throughout. We were warned!

Had my daughter's baby shower here yesterday. Gemma and the team went to such efforts to make our time here so special. The decorations looked great and the food was amazing! Everyone had a wonderful time. 100% recommend Rumour as a venue or just to pop in for tea and cake. Can't thank the team enough!

Rude staff! Went in for breakfast with family. We made a big order and I was responsible for all the ordering at the till the member of staff ran through the order with me and I agreed. It’s also worth noting that us just simply making an order was just one massive chore for her. When the food was bought out one order was wrong. I’m unaware whether I misheard the order and one was wrong or whether the staff member heard the wrong thing and put the wrong order through. This wasn’t actually the problem human mistakes happen, but the problem was the rude staff. I was told very abruptly that is what I had ordered so I took the food even though it wasn’t what I wanted I was then told that I could swap it to the food I had wanted which I said yes to, then as the staff member started to walk away she said very rudely with attitude “next time make sure you check it” The other staff member who served our food was miserable as well. I felt uncomfortable the whole time waiting for my food to arrive and the whole time I was there! I’d also received an upsetting phone call whilst in the cafe so was already having to hold my emotions back. I understand everyone is human and has a bad day but if I acted like that in my line of work it wouldn’t be acceptable! This was at 9:00 in the morning at the start of the day, I can’t imagine the rudeness and attitude I would of got if it had been mid afternoon after almost a full day of service. Won’t be returning and won’t be recommending to anyone!

Lovely backstreet oldy worldy coffee shop,excellent staff ,good quality food would highly recommend this very busy eatery

Nice spot on a sunny day. Found a table by the lake. Ordered English Breakfasts for parentals at £6.50 each so not cheap. Breakfast was rough and cheap. The tomatoes were what looked like reheated tinned stewed tomatoes, a single heated up sausage, bacon was okish, baked beans, fried egg with solid cooked yolk. Just rough. It looked revolting tbh. All the hot drinks came in disposable cups with plastic lids. What's wrong with a cup, a proper cup. The menu isn't massive mostly so dishes and panninis so at least make the effort to do a decent breakfast at that price. I'm sure the sandwiches are OK. All the bits of cake were sliced and embalmed in clingfilm. It all just felt cheap, while not being cheap. Anyway. Nice view, nice spot. Could be so so so much better.

Delicious breakfast with friendly staff, who were happy to accommodate our meal preferences. Will come again!

Very accommodating, three lovely sausage sandwiches and drinks. Reasonable prices, excellent service. A little gem!

My husband and I have used this restaurant for many years - welcomed by friendly staff, and a varied, reasonably priced menu. It's an interesting place to visit incorporating a large antiques and vintage clothes business on the upper floor - ( featured on Antiques Road Show) and part of the dining area. It provides an important service to the community and to those visiting the area.

If you want to remember what pubs were like in the hay days then this does it. A very popular establishment full of varying characters. If you treat people respectably then you will receive the same treatment back in this establishment. If you want a modern type pub with a food menu etc then this is not that sort of place, more a pint and a packet of crisps style here. Plenty of dart boards and a good sized area hosts the pool table. A great place for drinking and chatting.
