Had Christmas Day lunch here. NEVER again . Cold belly pork waited nearly an hour between starters and mains. Not good when having treatment for cancer . Put in a room with a group of 18 felt like we were intruding on a family occasion. Main course tasted of stuffing nothing else . Took our puddings home but binned mine as smelt of alcohol . Not worth the money . Will not be visiting again

The perfect spot for breakfast, coffee, lunch or dinner when in Shaldon. Service is superb, food offering has good choice, well cooked, reasonably priced. Absolutely love stopping for a coffee and cake on the terrace area overlooking the river. Can’t wait to go back,

Forest Fungi is a great breakfast / brunch spot. The breakfast menu is served until 2 and offers some unusual and delicious options, mushrooms are front and centre as you would expect. They have also introduced a BBQ menu and offer tea and cake in the afternoon. There is a small farm shop on site and a good range of fresh baked goods. The service is friendly and approachable and prices reasonable. The best thing about Forest Fungi is the food, high quality, fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time. At the weekend it is sensible to book in advance.

My partner and I had a half day in Teignmouth whilst staying at nearby Torquay. On arrival we visited this coffee shop and weren’t disappointed. Great coffee, a good choice of cakes and a lovely window seat. What more could we ask for before exploring the town.

Daisy’s tea room is a little gem. There were 6 of us with ages ranging from 17 to 83 and we easily found food and drink that suited us all. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful even though it was very busy and the tea room and tables were very clean. One of us had a prawn sandwich to eat which came with a side salad and a few crisps, two had the ham and cheese panini which they said had just the right amount of filling, one had a prawn mayo salad which was tasty and filling and the other had the soup of the day with a chicken sandwich. We had various drinks and then a slice of cake. The cakes are absolutely delicious! We tried the lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut and Victoria sponge and thoroughly enjoyed them all! The portion sizes here are generous without being too much and we all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will definitely be returning.

What a great tradditional Inn. 800yrs of history and character. Superb location, albeit down a few country lanes. All bedrooms with ensuite. Spacious and comfy. Fully loaded pub with snooker room, and darts room, bar and lounge and quiet reading snug type lounge. Large dinning room with breakfast bar. Large beer garden. Fully operational commercial kitchen. Stock your own bar and music player that feeds music to all areas. We had 20 family members in our group and all enjoyed the facilities. Would recommend to others who want a family holiday. We all did our own sightseeing in the daytime and came home to the pub to eat as a family and enjoy pub type nightime, with games, music, chat and a drink. Awesome!! Lastly, great and friendly host, always on hand if needed, but allowed you to enjoy the facilities. Superb !!

I was so pleasedto find they supply the traditional bûche de Noël in Devon. Couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase as I was not expecting to find one. It looked pretty and tasted even more delicious. The meringue mushroom was great and the swirls on the end were made of delicious marzipan

We were welcomed by the head bar man, what a gentleman & a legend taking the time to talk to us. We had visited Buckfast Abbey & drove through this quaint little village, parked cheaply in the pay & display & popped into this small village pub. Great little traditional pub, pool table on the right hand side, very clean & throughout. Good selection of beer & ales. We sat in their well tendered gardens. Definitely recommend for a stop off.

Having attempted to find a Pub to eat with little success and a friend suggested we try the Monks Retreat, Broadhempston, Nr ToTnes. We booked a Sunday Lunch for 6, I have to admit I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the meal as much as we did. We all had a roast, including 2 Beef 2 Pork a Lamb and a Nut roast, not traditional cut you might expect, but don’t let that put you off, the food was excellent, ample meat and vegetables proportions to the point we couldn’t manage a sweet and trust me that’s unusual for my family. Eating in pleasant surroundings with good service, we enjoyed it so much my wife and I booked it again and we will again. Thank you Monks Retreat.

Had a moment and wanted to check this great place was open after some confusing social media reports. It’s still there as good as ever and I was pleased to return after a while of me coming when not open. Same great format and food arrived cooked from scratch. I had the small breakfast but I could not clear it all. Great bacon, proper cafe sausage, tasty hash brown and nice mushrooms. I’d ask for fried bread to be separated next time. More expensive than previous but it’s now off beaten track so I’m happy to support it as a local legend. Well worth a proper breakfast outing!!
