Lovely warm and welcoming cosy pub with friendly staff, good restaurant with a variety of Asian cuisine,

We had our daughter's birthday tea here with about 5 friends (she is in a wheelchair). We booked in advance for a Saturday and the staff made us a birthday cake on request. The food was lovely and service friendly and helpful. We have done this twice now.

sadly disappointed with this venue The food was ok plenty of it Our biggest concern was it was so cold that we ate our lunch in our coats I know that energy bills are high at the moment...but some heating would of been nice....my phone suggested it was 13 degrees...im of the opinion if you are open for business then your customers should be happy with food....drinks....and warmth

Had the best pancakes - massive and fluffy ! Also had the light breakfast which was cooked perfectly. The ladies that work there were lovely and had great customer service skills. Definitely be going back.

A lovely old Sam Smith's pub which is clearly a very popular local. Comfortable & cosy with some interesting artifacts around the rooms. Open only Thu-Sun at time of writing (August 2024), we went for the 4pm opening time to celebrate my mother-in-law's 94th birthday - she was born in the village of Appleton Roebuck in August 1930 - and the bar quickly filled with folk who were clearly mostly locals. The chat was bubbling and the atmosphere was very pleasant. To the best of my knowledge the pub doesn't currently serve food. There is a large beer garden but dogs are not allowed anywhere in the pub, stars off by this reviewer for those two reasons.

Really dissappointed thouggt we were booked for bft but seemingly not.it was expensive for room early.bedrooms and bar areas were lovely but no customers. Pub closed up before 10.30 and nobody there to hand key into.

Brilliant food fast and friendly service

Had our engagement party here and absolutely couldn't fault it. Was left to our own devices with decorations and general set up, Tim and Jade were super laid back but happy to help when needed Plenty of options and really good service (even with larger groups) Thank you for allowing us to have such a special evening, highly recommend

Camped over in the large carpark, great atmosphere and service spot on. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

We went for Christmas lunch there was nice atmosphere we wasn't even showed to our table they got the children's menu completely wrong this wasn't an issue but they where rude to us in regards to there error we was left completely to defend to our own devices. The carvery was cold and the apple and cinnamon crumble was disgusting, they had run out of prosecco and the fridges where empty the bar staff did not break a smile the entire afternoon we left without a goodbye thank you or anything very unpleasant experience all round

Have been visiting here quite regularly for the last few years. The “Garden Gate” restaurant has some positives, the food is usually good, but we were recently let down by the service standard and the restaurant’s insistence on roping off large sections of the place for “cleaning”, right in the middle of service times when they are open and serving food. They do this frequently, including on busy days when customers are looking for a table. Today we had to clear a table ourselves, whilst a staff member stood nearby. Also, quite a wait for food during busy times. There always seem to be plenty of staff around, but too many serving and not enough clearing tables and ensuring paying customers have a clean table to sit on. It’s not rocket science is it? I get the feeling they don’t really care about looking after their customers, as it’s always busy. Losing my patience with the place now and will look elsewhere next time for Sunday lunch.

What a treat to call into a pub for lunch without tumble weed. A well stocked and well supported pub. The menu can be picked up and ordered from the bar. Hearty fayre. We enjoyed a Sri Lanka curry as well as a beef and Stilton pie. Both were delicious. The pub also seems well supported by locals who met in there for a catch up. Dogs seem welcome. Car park round the back. Welcoming atmosphere,would definitely go again
