The Ash Tree was buzzing on a Friday night - and I'm not surprised. Whoever's in the kitchen knows what they're doing. Lovely food, served in sizeable portions by competent friendly staff, made for a really good evening. Don't miss it.

Highly recommend the Fenton Flyer in Church Fenton. The owners are lovely and do so much for charity and the community. It’s lovely that they put on so many fantastic events to bring people together. Excellent choice of beers. Friendly local residents. Dog and child friendly. Pool room and a weekly quiz night. What’s not to love? Definitely recommend giving them a visit.

I am a regular customer in the coffee lounge...or I was until today...the manageress'nails are disgusting. Fake over grown with gunge behind them .also comments on social media her customers look horrendous fake wrinkly and pasty...she really isn't very nice...Will not be going back .!!!!!!!

We come most days to the cafe for a coffee with our dog Leo I highly recommend a bacon and mushroom sarnie always spot on Staff lovely always give a little treat to Leo as well he loves coming here

Food was terrible and all drinks were flat. Felt uncomfortable to be in the company of a racist landlady, even checked her Facebook after and I saw various hate speech’s shared including both racism, religious hate. Would not be visiting here unless you are also as thick as she is. God only knows what’s said in the confidence of privacy if this is what’s shared publicly.

Called to make a reservation, but got an answer machine saying they must be too busy to answer the phone... so we called in on spec on a Friday night for a meal (as staying at a local'ish hotel), and the place was in darkness, so presumably closed for good?

Awful customer service. A key component of the meal I ordered was not available. I wasn't made aware of this by the waitress when I ordered, or when my food was brought to the table. When I asked I was told there’s nothing they can do, but she would check with the kitchen. She didn’t bother to come and tell me what the kitchen said, only when I asked again. When paying, we asked what discount they had granted given the incomplete meal, and all we got was excuses of I’m not the manager, we don’t sell many of that meal, it’s Christmas so we haven’t had everything delivered. Terrible customer service, would not recommend. No atmosphere in the pub.

Meet my best friend once a week at this Nero's, staff very helpful carrying tray down to the lower level, only problem is often the flat whites are not that hot, annoying as not cheap, especially asking for hot coffee. Hope this gets taken care of . Thank you.

I visited over the war weekend, very friendly staff. good value. would recommend stopping for refreshment. I got a much better reception here than I did at the public house in Grosmont.

Staff uninterested and take no pride in their work. I’m a trained barista and I couldn’t deliberately make coffee as bad as they do! I watched them pull a shot and half of it missed the cup no apology when I pointed it out and still expected to pay. Avoid at all costs!

DO NOT BOOK A PARTY HERE!!! Absolute disgrace! Children weren’t fed, two young girls left in charge who were absolutely clueless, asked about party games (which we paid for!) and they never happened, no balloons, the cake came out AFTER the party should have ended and we were left in the dark, party boxes weren’t even made up until after people had left so only about 6 were given out of 30 kids, jugs of juice spilled on tablecloths and we cleaned them up and asked for more several times and the manager brought them and dumped them on top of a toy machine AFTER they had started to bring food out, so we had to try put them out. Absolute shambles! Manager was apologetic at the time, advised he would try get head office to issue a refund because he knew it was a complete mess from start to finish. He never called me back and I’ve spent the last week trying to get hold of him, only for him to claim that he had investigated and found that there weren’t enough parents per child (complete lie, there were almost as many adults as children!), that the girls were asking to do party games (lie again! We were asking about them and they said they could bring food out first and they took about an hour to get the food out and people still didn’t get fed!), they blamed the jug of juice going over on an autistic little boy being left unsupervised - again this is a lie!! He said that he had reviewed the CCTV footage, which I also know must be a lie because he would have seen exactly what was going on, me getting stressed and upset, asking staff several times for the kids to have their food etc! He basically told me that the complaint was lies but I literally spoke to him on the day and I shall be informing every parent and asking them to leave a review! After visiting with a friend in the summer, we thought we had found a quiet relaxing tea room to take my parents for breakfast/lunch for regular weekly visits. Not being far from home the location was perfect. However on the third visit we found that this tearoom allows dogs inside the tearoom regardless of size or number! No separation from other customers. If you are happy sat next to noisy barking, slavering large hairy creatures sprawled out all over the floor, then this place is ideal for you! For anyone wanting to enjoy a quiet relaxing lunch think again! Not only are dogs sprawled all over the floors a tripping hazard, the staff are touching, stroking and paying more attention to the animals than they are taking customers orders! On each occasion the doors onto the terrace have also been opened to get rid of the smoky atmosphere from the sandwich toaster - not ideal on chilly days when the draft comes through, while eating your meal but then again it does help with the smell of dogs! Unfortunately not for us, we will go elsewhere, dog free or at least where dogs are separated and customers have priority!

Shocked beyond belief of how standards can plummet from the last time we dined here. In a nutshell: poor selection on the menu. We chose a cheeseburger in the absence of anything else hot that seemed appropriate. The drinks were delivered as cans without tumblers. The tables weren't wiped. We waited for 30minutes, no food on the horizon (not busy as we saw one order delivered in that time). When politely mentioned it mysteriously appeared 5 minutes later virtually uncooked, pale insipid bargain basement carpet-burgers. Less than luke warm. The cheese hadn't even begun to melt next to the burger. The 'meal' was advertised coming with a salad and chips. The salad was two wafer thin slices of tomato and less than an eggcupful of bland lettuce under the burger making the bread wet. We were given a lecture by the server who we questioned about the absence of our order. She went to great lengths to explain that all the food was made in-house fresh each day and was of the highest quality. And that they were at the top of their game with respect to hygiene and food safety. Difficult to swallow from the evidence presented to us. The only decent thing that server did was to offer up the cost of part of the burger meal, presumably knocking off the price of the chips. We certainly will never return. And would recommend the cafe just down the road as they cooked their food. Yours A sadly disappointed and disgusted customer.
