Lovey cosy warm room. Loved how high the bed was and very comfortable. The bathroom was very modern but had a very strong smell of ammonia that made my eyes water and gave me a bad head. Am guessing it was what was used to clean it but the smell never left. The breakfast was lovely too . Cooked fresh to order. I loved the fact that dogs can stay to I will remember that for future reference. The bar had a lovely vibe with local folk .

We were looking for a Georgian restaurant and found this place 9 mins from us. The restaurant is run by a Georgian family. The mom is the cook. We ordered aubergine with walnut paste, Khachapuri and Khinkali. All arrived fresh and exceptionally tasty. I would recommend this place anytime.

After reading the reviews we have to say that we were very disappointed with our visit. We had the 3-course menu which was adequate but not at all exciting. Whilst each course was well cooked, the sauces and accompaniments lacked subtlety and flavours were not well balanced. Difficult to justify a Michelin star on this performance. Over the years we have used a number of Michelin restaurants but sadly this rates as the worst we have visited. It was highly priced and certainly not worth the money we were charged.

Used to order here all the time because it was once the best in Ilford. I always ordered half chicken and peri fries. My last 5 orders have gotten worse and worse with each order. The taste has gone. They’re doing the fries differently for some reason. The chicken is always drier and less juicy these days. This is exactly how good food places decline. They stop doing what made them the best at first. They become oversmart and think they can do better but actually end up worse. I don’t know if they are trying to save money somewhere too. Such a great shame. I’m not giving these guys another penny ever again. Not worth it anymore. Really sad these guys have declined so fast and so badly.

I’ve had good experiences at Le Vieux Comptoir in the past, dining there a couple of times last year and thoroughly enjoying their delicious food. I always ordered the same favorites: Foie Gras Poêlé with Apples & Shallots, Escargots, and Onion Soup. Unfortunately, this visit was a stark contrast. Most of the dishes I loved were unavailable, leaving me to settle for the Onion Soup, which turned out to be bland and tasteless. I decided to try something new—the Lyonnaise dish—but it was very average. To make matters worse, the desserts were a complete letdown. The apple tart, for instance, was soggy, as though it had been frozen and hastily microwaved. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I can only hope the chef was on holiday that day, and the kitchen staff struggled to maintain the usual standards.

Thank you Waterhouse for an exceptional lunchtime experience. Warm welcome, clean tables and immaculately turned out staff at the front of house and in the kitchen. I wanted to support a community beneficial and independent establishment so that’s two boxes ticked! I wasn’t expecting it to be much more than a canteen with clean but chaotic service. How wrong I was! Professional and excellent service from the moment we walked in, delicious lemonade flavoured drinks with organic and additive free ingredients, best coffee I’ve tasted in a long time, nicely presented and well cooked curry (could have been a bit spicier for my taste but I appreciate it needs to suit all tastes not just mine!) with rice and a homemade nan, sticky warm chocolate brownie with ice cream and change from £25 for two of us having lunch. You’d pay more than that for Starbucks lunch for two and none of the profit benefits the community! Anyway thank you Waterhouse Restaurant. Spectacular location, lovely staff and clean wholesome surroundings.

We called into The Leather Bottle for lunch yesterday which was a very cold day. We particularly chose here because of the log burner in the bar which on previous occasions has been lit and roaring away. Unfortunately yesterday the log burner wasn’t lit and no central heating was on making an unwelcome atmosphere! I asked I they could light the fire because we were cold and were told the chimney hadn’t been swept! Will think twice about going back there in the Winter as there are lots of good pubs better prepared and are at least prepared to put the heating on!

Went for a little snack just to try the place out. Good first impression. The waffle was delicious and the coffee and hot chocolate were good.

Absolutely shockingly bad service at 7.30am this morning at Ripe. I approached the cafe when the door was open at 7.05 am and asked if they were open and if they served gluten free bread to which I was told they open at 7.30 and yes- gluten free available. So I went back to my car and waited for 25 minutes until they opened. When I went back in and asked for a gluten free bacon sandwich the initial lady I had spoke to was trying to accommodate my order but as the bacon was usually served with a baguette she was struggling to put the order into the till or know what to charge me. She asked for help and was met with rudeness and unhelpfulness from her colleague who told her that gluten free was a sandwich and they weren’t served until after 11… had she checked with the kitchen that they had gluten free… and would they serve before 11…. This was then agreed they did have, but I couldn’t have a gluten free baguette I could have plain bread and I would have to pay an additional £1.50 for the privilege of having gluten free bread- rather than a big chunk of baguette????? I could understand if it was a gluten free sandwich vs a sliced bread sandwich as gluten free bread is more expensive… but not as a substitute for a baguette. The lady who was shouting about the £1.50 extra never gave me any eye contact or spoke to me directly. She was extremely rude and unfriendly. I asked how much the bacon sandwich would cost me and was told £9.50. There was a large queue behind me by this point due to the back and forth about the said gluten free bread….. there was a small gasp from several members of the queue and a comment “that’s totally ridiculous “ and a supportive nod in my direction as I said “no thank you” and left… hungry
