had previously given a good review as when we'd been before it was lovely but our last visit was disappointing. there was only a few people in and our food took forever even though we only ordered 2 pizzas and a garlic bread. the bread took so long we ended up asking for it to go.. eventually after an hour after finishing the pizza we had to leave as our parking was expiring.. we realised the garlic bread was sitting on the counter in a takeaway box but nobody had given it to us. wonder how long it sat there! proper weird a shame as pizzas used to be great but this time, it wasn't worth it at all :(

Bought a cheese pizza from this place a few times, warm slices that taste delicious. Used to give leftovers of pizza to my friends and I a lot.

Coffee and tea really great. What was worse was the service. I'm not quite used to not ordering right away, but waiting at the table and waiting for the waiter to process the orders of the previous guests and then the capacity is freed up for the next one. In our countries, the order sorting system works more efficiently. Otherwise, the cafe lived up to expectations, only one toilet is available, which can be a bit of a problem when it's busy.

We came across this place while staying in nearby. The pizzas were excellent along with the sides -arachini and croquettes.

Oct 2022 - OMG yes I highly recommend this eatery. I think I ate dinner here 4+ times out of the week. The employees were friendly and attentive. I tried different items off the menu, but I must admit I always went back to the pizza. That dough and the way they hand make it were stupendous. They also offer gluten-free penne and spaghetti. Great location and the prices were reasonable, hence the multiple trips there. Oh oh they make their own beer, I had multiple Hopo Lagers. I believe they have 4 that they craft. Great choice for lunch or dinner. You can join their rewards program too and receive discounts, just mention it to the servers and they will adjust the bill.

Superb pizza. Ordered the Divola, the dough was excellent, not too thick and juicy. Well priced (£12.50) for the quality. A few stool seats are available to eat on the premises.

Popped in here for coffee, before a tennis session. Was greeted by smiles. And was served the most drinkable coffee I've had this year. Well balanced! Not too bitter and no funky or watery taste. I had this sitting outside, although wouldn't have minded having it inside the roomy cafe with a character of its own. Reminds me of the pre-covid Tchai Ovna in Glasgow. Will return.

Good selection of toppings for pizza. Will note you need to order online and wait 10 minutes instead of just walking in and ordering. Only complaints are the cherry tomatoes fell off the top of the pizza and the larger wedges seemed like they were a little undercooked in the middle. Very hot pizza and Very hot wedges 10/10 will come for seconds.

I'm slightly biased as i love nearby and eat here frequently. but there is no better pizza this side of town (sorry civerinos, i still love you tho). morattis is the closest to honest family pizza you can get and accommodates anything they can. i can't describe how lucky we are too have this place near our home and between our home and work places and so close to Edinburgh old town!

Heads up, if you're getting food here, make sure to keep an eye on it as it's being prepared. I went to get lunch here and as I was waiting I noticed the chef cough into his bare hand and immediately used the same hand to assemble burgers and make pizzas. It was a hard phlegmy cough, not just a quick or light cough, as if that necessarily matters. When I brought this to the attention of the others, one of which I believe was the owner, they acted as if I had inconvenienced them somehow and said that I should have said sooner if there was a problem, as though it was my job to monitor their employees. I was trying to be discreet and wait for the customers inside to leave rather than make a scene but they immediately drew attention to it of everyone in the shop and asked what I wanted them to do about it. They offered to make another one and bring it to me after but I declined and asked if a refund was possible as I'd spent my lunch break waiting for a meal I didn't feel comfortable eating and I wouldn't have had time to eat it (even if I was willing to trust them to make it again without spit). They reluctantly agreed but I could feel everyone staring daggers at me. I don't feel as though I was being rude or unreasonable at any point, any other shop would have taken the matter seriously and offered compensation without the awkward spotlight or taking offense. As someone who has many years of experience in food and service, I felt that the whole encounter was unprofessional. Restaurants should be expected to maintain proper hygiene and food safety standards at all times. They may have just been having a bad day and hating work, or they just didn't expect someone to complain about the way they normally do things. I'm sure the staff there are great people, as I've heard a lot of good things about them from others, so it's definitely nothing personal but this interaction definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately being that this was my first experience with them, I don't think I'll be visiting them again.
