Really nice chips if you go at a certain time, however cannot say the same about the kebab meat, no matter what time u go there, you never get tasty kebab meat, mostly rock hard, like burnt potato peel, it's so thin, don't even think you can call that kebab meat, , not exactly cheap either, think it time for a change of chippy, following on from the owners response, this is exactly what I will be doing, moving my custom to another chippy, I find it hard to believe no one has ever complained about the suppose to be kebab meat, well each to their own, for me it was awful.

Great food, but card payment being available would move the business into present times

Driving through with my partner, decided to give these guys a go as we were hungry. These are the best chips I've had in a while battered sausages were spot on. Went down a treat with the curry sauce. Definitely visit again when this way.

I don’t like to leave bad reviews but unfortunately in this case I need to as I hope the owner can see this and react upon accordingly. We were on our way home around 8:30pm and thought we’d have a nice sausage and chips for our dinner. How disappointed were we? From the outside the shop looks ok but once you get in the place is filled with smoke ( it was like the extraction wasn’t on?) so instead of waiting for our order inside we went out and came back in 5 mins later. The young lady that served us was pleasant but the other staff just looked as they were in a youth club and messing about. So we get home 10 mins later and eagerly want to tuck in and after the 8/9 layers of paper that wrapped them we had what we thought were generous portions of chips with our battered sausage. Well we were glad they were generous as the majority of them were stuck to the paper as they swimming in oil. Instantly from the first chip I thought that they had a peculiar taste and after a two more chips I had to put them in the bin! They had definitely been cooked in very old cooking oil as they had that bitterness to them. The battered sausage was like any other battered sausage so no complaints there.

Nice people and great food. Chips are spot on, they tase good and not of fat or fish or the like.

Terrible place to get chips. The chips were soggy, tasted like they were cooked and left sitting there for a while and the oil they were cooked in left a disgusting after taste. Ate around 20 chips (from a large portion) and threw the rest away

As good a fish'n chips as anywhere and I have enjoyed fish'n chips for over 60 years... thank you for being open during this holiday period!

Can’t believe it’s just cost us £2 more this time than our last order only a couple of weeks ago, the haddock were also so much smaller not good value anymore

Got sausage chips and curry sauce. Sausage was tiny. In Scarborough you get 4 of these for same price. Even charged extra for carton. Very stingey. Typical tight yorkshiremen.

Great food, amazing prices and fast service

My wife and I were staying at St Michaels on our 5th visit. We had an amazing experience at Brasserie on the Bay. Our waitress was very attentive and service was top notch. The ambience is lovely, the views great. Happy hour in the bar is an added bonus for nice cocktails. The food was delicious and everything sourced locally. I had the sirloin and my wife had a delicious risotto. We will be eating here again when we next stay at the hotel resort.

A typical, excellent English type restaurant with good food, interesting decor and architecture in handy location at end of The Strand. Friendly waiter been there for years.
